Locked Hallicrafters group storage space
Fair to say that after some 20 years of use, this group is using perhaps 1GB of the 30GB allotted?? Perhaps some dos and don'ts on group posting etiquette from the boss?
I ask this since some posters eliminate the original thread which makes it difficult, at least for me, to remember what has been said in previous posts within the same thread.

Well jim, I don’t even know who or what some posts relate to, since some replies don’t mention who all is the intended recipient nor any clue as to the statement being targeted. ?There are other aspects too, but it is hard to generalize.? As to email or on line, it’s much easier to ?fix the writhing in e-mail, and to have a larger window and to add other features, but on-line is the only way to run down all the stuff and search a bit too. ? 开云体育Jim – I do not see how that is possible. I see your name more than any other on numerous posts and numerous groups. Obviously you remember what has been said as you answer every time, even when there has been a resolution. – Mike ? Mike B. Feher, N4FS 89 Arnold Blvd. Howell NJ 07731 908-902-3831 ? Mike Thanks for the replay, much appreciated.? Yes, we both appear to have similar interests and we post to several groups in common over these last 30 odd years.? We might have even rubbed elbows at some hamfests on the east coast and at NJARC club events. Back in the early years of these groups, computer memory and dial-up connections limited discussions.? Now these issues are trivial, digital memory is cheap and internet connections are quite fast.? It just seems easier for me to leave past comments in the post then to go back and research what was discussed in the past.?? This last discussion about testing the power transformer in the HT-37 brought up some fine points on oscilloscope measurements.? Having to cut and paste images that were deleted in the exchange kind of slowed down the discussion.? So when a measurement shows current leading voltage in an coil this contradicts basic AC theory, as I understand it, and I feel obligated to ask more questions. In my career I have occasionally taught at vo-techs in New Jersey and here in Arkansas.? Besides polishing up math skills, I would spend a lot of time trying to get a message across that contradicts what the student was taught earlier.? This usually starts when AC circuit theory is taught.? The concept of electrostatic fields is not much of a problem but the idea of opposing a change in current using a magnetic field can be challenging.? Well, obviously it still is. I guess my issue is with "common knowledge" which never seems to hold up to any scrutiny.? Two additional pet peeves are the AC line voltage that appears to be increasing over time and being electrocuted by your S-38 or any other AA5 radio.? While there may be a kernel of truth in both, the story is much more complicated but interesting, none the less. Regards, Jim Logic: Method used to arrive at the wrong conclusion, with confidence.? If this is a free group, total storage space is 1 GB.? Images can gobble that up much faster than text.? I have noticed that some images I have posted have disappeared after some time.? My guess is that a moderator deletes those from time to time to help keep us under the storage limit.? I see that the first message here was in 2005 and that groups.io launched in 2014.? Evidently, this forum started on a reflector service and then got transferred to groups.io which can function as a reflector but offers much more than that - one simply has to log in at the groups.io website and click around a bit to see how easy and fast it is.

This is a free group for members except for me which I pay out of my pocket and have been for 20 years (Has it been that long? :) 2.???? The storage space on this group is 30gb not 1gb. 3.???? You guessed right, I do remove images from time to time that have been sitting and forgotten for some time when the image repository reaches about 100-125 images and especially when the same image is in storage multiple times, copied and repeated in replies.? Then I start to trim it down.? Why do I do that because as you say, its wasteful of space and just a habit of mine going back to the ol Radio Shack Model 1 day. K2WH |
JPG is fine probably the others too, I know of no image types that are rejected.
?
Like I said if I was not clear.
?
The images or the image files that are contained in the "Photos" folders, can be removed with a single click of the mouse even if there were 1,000 images in the folder.
?
The emailed images from members are fine but removing them is a task because each individual image in order to be erased, requires (3) mouse movements and (3) clicks to remove it.? That is why I purge it from time to time.? If I didn't the quantity of images would be beyond my ability to erase them one at a time.
I know of no method where emailed images can be stored in their own folder, maybe that's a good thing.

开云体育Oh, good to know a bit about that Bill. I was beginning to feel the hand of Jack Hill in this post...? (if you know you know).? :-) The amount of storage used by text is insignificant.?? The transformer discussion was interesting! John K5MO |
