HT-45 Loudenboomer Value?
Nice looking amp.? Value hmmm,? Tell your wife it is worth a dollar a watt!? Tell your neighbor it is $2 a watt. Tell the collector it is $5 a watt. It should clean up nicely. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDid you get the PS-45 with it too?? ? Gary H. Harmon Jr 6003 Archwood San Antonio, TX 78239-1504 (210) 657-1549 home (210) 884-6926 cell k5jwkgary@... ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Dave Jordan via groups.io

I have one of those! They're great amplifiers but are only good for about 500-600W You can put a 3-500 in them.? If it's the slightly shorter Eimac model, it will fit. The newer (taller) imported 3-500's will not. The original (roughly 3000V) power supply must be connected to the amp before testing it because the swinging choke will not "swing" unless the current output is at least 55mA? That 55mA comes from the 210K bleeder resistors, (approx 15 mA) and stand-by idling current (approx 40mA) Without the minimum current draw, the voltage will literally "soar" to around 4000-4500V. I built a power supply to eliminate the old mercury vapor rectifiers, filament transformer and swinging choke using a Drake plate transformer out of an L-4B using the same voltage doubling circuit. It produces around 2600V.? The amp with the original 3-400 does around 500W. Above it's wired for 120AC.? I have subsequently re-wired it for 240. If your amp works ok and is in otherwise good condition, I would think it's worth around $600-750. If you try to sell it untested (meaning it really doesn't work)?? I wouldn't give more than around $300-400 for it. ymmv -- 73/Rick W4XA __________________________________ All posts are created using OpenSuSE Leap 15.5 x64 Linux |
Looks great to me.? Does what it was designed to do, nothing more and nothing less! It's a keeper if you are a collector. 73 dave wa3gin On Thu, May 9, 2024 at 3:38?PM Bill (Group Owner) via <k2wh=[email protected]> wrote: Yes, I concur, very nice looking amp, kinda looks "Used very little". |

But I do have several pictures of my HT-45 PSU build I would like to share for the files/pictures area once I get them all together.? If you would like me to do that, please let me know where to send them or would a shared iCloud or Google files link, ? etc be better? -- 73/Rick W4XA __________________________________ All posts are created using OpenSuSE Leap 15.5 x64 Linux |
