Sticky Howdy hey! 24
Let's get this party started!!!! We have a few people here! YAY! Go us! Please take a moment and introduce yourself, who is your entry Tolkien character, your favorite Tolkien character and anything you want to say about yourself! Hi! I'm Zee. I'm a teacher down in the South and I write fanfiction. Not as prolific as I used to be but I still write. My gateway Elf was Haldir and my favorites are Haldir, Gamling, Eomer and Thorin. I have 5 pushy muses that'll I'm sure will come out when they wish. As I said, I write in the LOTR fandom, as well as The Hobbit, Doom (movie) Harry Potter, Into the Storm and Robin Hood. I have a cross over - LOTR/HP called Tel' Lindar that many think I abandoned years ago, but I've dusted it off and am working on it again! I'm going to go int the files, the subgroups, I guess and set up folders. Also need to figure out where we can put graphics and art! I have plenty of that. IN current and past times, I saved quite a bit of fanfic and art so I could read off line and I"ll probably put it up here or at the Proboard group. If I've put up yours and you'd rather I hadn't, let me know privately and we'll fix it. I'm looking forward to getting both boards set up and seeing what others have to offer! I miss the hey day and I know we won't return to that, but I've made a lot of friends over the years and hope we can still get together and enjoy!

Welcome, New Members!!
Welcome to the new Haldir Lovers!! Allow me to say how happy I am to see you here. This is a work in progress, and with that said, things are evolving and we're learning the new site and still setting things up. I did manage to download some things from the old HL, but have not gone through them to see what I managed to snag. Let's hope it's some good stuff. :-) Please take a moment and say hello to the group, and feel free to make yourself at home. Start a new topic or whatever you wish. Look around and see what we have to offer! At the new Haldir Lovers, I also want to announce that we now have three List Moms; Christen, Zee and myself. We are pleased you are here!! Again, Welcome!! Back to Middle-earth Month and Spring Into Arda Mini Bang 2
Greetings, friends! B2MEM has begun! B2MEM (otherwise known at Back To Middle-earth Month) is a creative celebration beginning March 1st that encourages fan creations (writings, art, crafts, and really anything) related to Tolkien's works. Now in its 16th year, the daily prompts are themed this year around The Silmarillion (with both specific to The Silmarillion ideas and general prompts that can apply to any works), and the mystery bingo prompts are a mix of Tolkien-specific and general as well. The 3/1 prompts are live, the bingo lists are all available, and the sign-ups for the mini bangs (collaborative writing and art activities) are live, too! If you create things, or have ever thought to do so, B2MEM and Spring Into Arda are fun, supportive events for creators of all levels! Dis's Dilemma - A Thorin and Family short 5
How about a little fanfiction, eh? As we're encompassing everyone Tolkien - here ya go! Dís's Dilemma A Thorin and Family short “It's got to come down!” Dís stood in the doorway of her sons' shared sleeping area, arms crossed over her formidable chest. “I know they are teens, I know this sort of thing is normal, but that-” she stabbed a short finger at the wall, “must come down!” She put her hand up to her sons' outraged and in Kili's case, mulish expression. The cause of the uproar in Thorin's home was a pinup of a dwarrow, proudly hung between the beds of Fili and Kili. It was a reproduction and the original artist was rather talented. Not normal for a dwarf, but nevertheless... “Take it down!” Dís pointed again to the large drawing. “Now! I don't care who!” “Why?” Fili's snarl now matched his brother's. “She's clothed...” he looked at the artwork lovingly, “-sort of.” Indeed, the model was clothed, albeit barely. A swatch of dark navy silk around her breasts, flowing skirts slashed to her waist, showing off glorious thick thighs, covered with downy hair... “I'll send for Dwalin!” Thorin's sister was completely infuriated. “Maybe he'll talk some sense into these two!” “No need for that.” Finally, Thorin spoke. He was leaning against the entryway with his arms crossed. His visage was stoic, but an amused light shown in his eyes. He knew why Dís was furious and it had nothing to do with the fact that her sons put up a poster of a barely clad dwarrow. “She has a nice array of... jewelry.” He leaned over towards his sister. “I wonder where she got it, who her father was in order to outfit her in such?” He smiled to himself. “I'll bet she was such an ufdi!” Dís bowed up and glared at her brother. “You are incorrigible and utterly useless!” She turned with a huff and headed towards the entryway of the residence. Thorin could hear her yelling for his friend as she went through the door, scattering passersby and various lightning bugs. Her voice continued to echo as she distanced herself from her family. Finally, there was silence. “Thorin,” Fili's voice was soft. “Please don't make us-” “Oh, I have no intention of making you remove it.” Kili's eyes were focused lovingly on the poster. “She's beautiful. I wonder who she was.” “That would be the million white gem question, wouldn't it?” Thorin heard noise in the entrance and listened to his friend stomp up the hallway. Dwalin laid eyes on the pin up. “By my beard! Where did you get this from?” “Kili?” The question was automatic as Dís's youngest was normally the one to get into trouble. “Not me. Fili.” “Fili,” Dwalin's voice was low. “How did you come by the artwork?” “My friend, Angant?r. He found it in an old trunk, he, his brother, and I were digging through, searching for some string for fishing. Some lures.” “Angant?r, son of Saemund?” “Aye.” Dwalin leaned close to Thorin. “I thought Saemund destroyed that thing?” he whispered. “I thought he did, as well.” Thorin lifted up his chin. “Fili, was this the only one in the trunk?” Fili shook his head. “There were several.” He glared at his uncle. “You're not going to make us take it down, are you?” “No.” The dwarf shook his head. “Your mother won't be happy, but I won't make you take it down.” “I could look at her forever.” Kili was standing in front of the large picture. “She's got nice legs.” Fili nodded in agreement. Dwalin muttered under his breath, but still audible. “I guess now would be a bad time to tell them it's their mother.” “WHAT?” Both boys turned to their uncle and his friend. Quickly, Fili returned to the artwork, getting as close as he could. “No!” he shuddered. He turned away in disgust. “That's just nasty!” “This can't be mom!” Kili spat! He flung a finger towards the drawing. “I love mom, but she's beautiful!” “Are you saying moms aren't beautiful?” No one noticed that Dís had returned and was listening to the exchange. “How do you think we became moms?” All four males turned red. Dwalin seemed to be the first to recover. He stepped forward, gently tugging on the picture. “I'll take this down and take care o

Happy Holidays and remembering groups
Hi Guys Hope everyone is enjoying a fun, relaxing and safe holiday. I still miss our old groups. I was using groups when they were onelist, then egroups, then yahoogropps. I found out that Yahoo also disbanded my favourite search engine Alta Vista. They had a function where you could search the internet for pages exclusively with sound files. So much easier to find music, movie and TV quotes and sounds eg Halloween sounds, rainforest sounds, etc. I use duck duck go now and Ecosia - who plant trees when you surf the net, but still no sound search :( Yahoo also got fid of Geocities, lots of fan astatic pages gone. Internet wrecking ball, Yahell :( Remembering groups and I am grateful to have Io and dreamweaver, so I don't miss my fandom buddies. Hope you all have a safe, happy and relaxing new year and hope that 2022 will be wonderful. Love Seawave

Journey Prologue 5
To get this list moving I have decided to repost the story I wrote back in the early 2000s. I am in the process of rewriting it to take into consideration the events that happened in the Hobbit (especially since this follows the movieverse). This begins about 80 years before the events from LoTR (Aragorn is about seven at this point). Like I mentioned above, it eventually takes into consideration the events from the first set of movies that were made, and continues past it for a bit. Also, in my head canon Haldir is the eldest of his brothers, and they were orphaned when very young. Their father worked in the forge with Celembrior in the creation of the rings of power. They survived by being hidden by their mother and were found by Elrond and Celeborn. Elrond wished to foster them, but Celeborn refused. So Celeborn and Galadriel raised the three brothers. As in the books, Haldir knows Westron, but his brothers do not. All known characters, of course, are Tolkien's creations, while all others are mine. I will be posting once a week, or at least when I have time to work on the chapters. “Are we going to stop at Imladris, herven?” Galedia asked her husband, Donathorn, as they journeyed east from the Grey Havens. Her long dark hair moved with the light breeze. As they climbed higher and higher she would look back when there was a break in the trees to see the city nestled against the sea. Of all the years she lived next to the sea, she never had to deal with the Sea Longing. Maybe it was because of the knowledge that it would be easy to leave for Valinor. Eventually the city disappeared forcing her to look forward and to the back of her husband. He was a proud and arrogant elf, and his posture mirrored his mindset, but at the moment he seemed deep in thought. “No,” he shook his head. “I would like to travel as far as possible each day.” Galedia frowned. It had been some time since they shared their thoughts, so it was difficult for her to understand why he was acting this particular way. Master Elrond, and Imladris was a fine place to rest during their journey, but it looked as if that was not going to happen. And then there was the reason why they were traveling. She still had no idea, but she had inclinations of why they were traveling all the way to the Greenwood and Thranduil’s realm. “Nanneth?” Galedia turned to look at the elleth riding just behind her. They were traveling light in both garments and guards. “Yes, my daughter?” “Why?” Galedia slowed her horse so that the elleth could catch up with her. When they were side by side, she leaned over, knowing that Donathorn would hear every word she said, “Because your Adar does not wish for it.” She knew her herven’s prejudices. It would be useless to even state why they were making this unusual journey. The horses in front of them paused. Galedia turned her attention back to Donathorn. He was looking down at something on the trail. After a moment he nodded then urged his horse forward. It turned out to be an old trail, one that had not been used in at least a millennia. This particular track took them south of the valley that cradled the sanctuary of Imladris. Several weeks later they neared the foothills of the Misty Mountains, but never made it even into the foothills. With a minimum number of servants and guards they were quickly overwhelmed, and no one knew where they were. Narariand, who was the senior, and only, guard and whose main duty was to guard the group, winced as he forced himself to sit up. He found himself staring into the open, vacant eyes, of the still form that had been his lord. His breath hitched as he turned and saw the blood-spattered bodies of the others. He managed to get onto his hands and knees and crawled over to the closest form. “No,” his voice hitched again as his eyes came to rest on the young elleth lying under her mother. Galedia had tried to shield her child. The wind picked up. It was the only sound in the small clearing. His breath hitched once more, and this time a bloom of pain spread throughout his chest while his mind cried out at

The Journey 1/? 2
Okay, this is where the story really begins. If you remember, near the end of the prologue Estel asks Elrond if they had returned. Elrond answered and stated that it had been three weeks since they left. Chapter one begins four weeks before that, so it's a total of about 7 weeks prior to that last scene. I hope that clears up any confusion. One other thing, even though this is movieverse, and pre PJ's Hobbit, I have Erestor instead of Lindir. Anywho, Enjoy! Seven weeks earlier “Master Elrond,” an elf with long brown straight hair stepped quickly into the room. The space before him was in multi levels and decorated with paintings and sculptures. Desks, tables, and chairs were placed in various areas for anyone to use. Books were readily available for anyone to peruse. At this point there was a lone figure seated near the fireplace. He had long raven black hair that was casually knotted to keep the strands from tangling, and out of the figure’s face. His ears parted the strands. The upper tips were pointed denoting that he was a member of the Eldar, an elf. The clothing he wore was sumptuous in its color and texture. This particular elf could easily intimidate the most stalwart of the household, not to mention others that visited on a regular basis. Setting the book down in his lap, he gave his intruder a steady gaze. “Be at peace, Glénduil.” Glénduil paused, trying to catch his breath, before speaking, “I am sorry Master Elrond, but a rider from Lórien has come. He states that your services as a healer are in dire need.” Before Glénduil had even finished, Elrond was on his feet and on his way out of the room. “My lord, he is heading towards the Halls of Healing and will meet you there,” Glénduil hurried to keep up with Elrond’s quick pace. Elrond only paused when he reached the Halls. Coming from the direction of the stables was another elf. His skin coloring was naturally pale and had a crown of pale blond hair. He was dressed in the colors and symbols of a warden of Lothlórien and carried his burden wrapped in a blood stained gray cloak with gentle ease. The two moved into the Halls. The elves and elleths that were already gathered looked with both interest and worry. Individuals that carried burdens as such would normally loose the injured one. Hopefully this would not be the case. The first empty room was their destination. Once inside, Elrond moved to the side giving the warden more than enough room to place his burden gently down on the bed. “Master Elrond,” he stood and backed away, “My brothers are following. They should be more more than a day behind.” “Good.” Elrond nodded as he removed the wine-dark heavy outer cloak he wore. Once divested he turned his full attention to the form on the bed. With gentle hands he slowly unwrapped the cloak revealing a badly injured elleth. The light shining from the window caught her thick black hair and made them shimmer with a slight bluish glow. Her pale skin was a mixture of her natural coloring and the blood loss she received from her injuries. “I need both salve and bandages,” Elrond ordered. He turned to see his newest apprentice darting into the hall, then rested his eyes on the Lorién elf. Placing a hand on his shoulder, he kept his voice low, “Rúmil, I want you to wait outside.” Rúmil stood there for several minutes before backing up. From what Elrond saw it was obvious that he wanted to make sure the elleth would be taken care of. “She is not so far gone that I cannot help her,” Elrond kept his voice low, and full of kindness. He squeezed Rúmil’s shoulder. It was obvious that Rúmil wished to stay, but eventually nodded and left the room. Elrond wanted to give the elleth the dignity she deserved, though most of her ruined clothing had to be removed and discarded so he could heal her. Now alone Elrond turned back to his current patient and began the examination to see what he could do initially to help this particular elleth. As he bound his long hair in a leather strip, effectively pulling the dark strands out of the way, his apprentice appeared once more. She had both

The Journey 2/? 3
Okay, here's chapter two. Enjoy! Rúmil’s mind brought him back to awareness and the sound of something happening in the hall outside his room. Rousing from the bed, he went over to the door and opened it. From where he stood, he could only see in one direction. He frowned, thinking to retreat back into the room. “Mae govannan, Rúmil,” Orophin’s voice called from the other end of the hall. Rúmil’s head whipped around to see not only the one who addressed him, but their elder brother, Haldir. Orophin took a step forward, which was rather unusual. “We arrived as quickly as possible.” He paused, “Any word?” The sudden silence was overwhelming in its heaviness. “Lord Elrond declared that she will live, although he did not elaborate on the nature of her injuries.” Both Orophin and Haldir visibly relaxed at that particular piece of information. Rúmil looked down at his brothers’ traveled stained clothing, then let a smile form. “There is to be a feast tonight. I do not think the Lord of Imladris would approve of your attire if you come like that.” He let a hit of mischief shine in his eyes. “And what about you?” Orophin shot back. “That’s enough,” Haldir raised a hand between the two. “You always ruin everything,” Rúmil let out a huff. “And you’re always so serious,” Orophin answered. Haldir rolled his eyes. “You’re not elflings anymore, but wardens of Lórien. You need to act like that.” Sometimes Rúmil knew when he pushed things too far. He took a step back and retreated into his temporary chambers. Out of the corner of his eye Orophin wasn’t far behind. Leaving the door open a jar he looked back into the hall only to see Haldir shake his head before continuing to his own chambers. ~~~~~~~ Even though Haldir and Orophin had traveled quickly, it wasn’t so quick that they lost rest. It was apparent, and Haldir was glad, that Rúmil had been resting. And his current state of mind was an even better indicator that he made it to Imladris before the elleth faded entirely, not to mention his report. He stepped into the corridor as the bell tolled that announced dinner would start presently. Further down the hallway Rúmil and Orophin had their backs to him, deep in discussion. With silence born from growing up with two prank-prone ellons, and his training as a warden, his two younger brothers did not register his presence until he placed hands on their shoulders. He was rewarded with them jumping and uttering several colorful curses, in Quenya no less, as the two whirled around. Lucky for him, they were unarmed. “Come, we do not want to be late.” Brushing between them, he let a small grin play across his features. The grumbles behind him were two low for even Haldir to understand what was said. Footsteps quickly followed. It would be rather uncouth if they did come late. The three brothers stepped through the entrance and into the area where Elrond held dinners on occasion. There was a single table that held enough places for everyone to sit. At the end of the table was where Elrond sat. His twin sons sat on either side of him. Elrond had not made his appearance, but his sons had. Next to one of them sat a young child, apparently of the adan because of his wavy hair. Orophin looked at Haldir, it was obvious he was not sure what it meant. He and their youngest brother rarely traveled the realm of Middle Earth. This was one of the few times that Galadriel ordered them to come with him. Glorfindel’s voice came from behind them, “The young one seated next to Elrohir is Estel, one of the Dúnedain. Lord Elrond is currently fostering him.” He paused, “His lineage will be kept from him until he is of age.” It was at that point Haldir realized who Estel was. He shook his head while furrowing his brow, “I thought Elendil’s line had ended. The Lord and Lady said as much.” “That is to keep him safe. Once his existence is made known, he will be hunted for the rest of his life.” Elrond came up behind Glorfindel. “I will raise him as if he were of my own flesh and blood. Yes, he does not know who he is, and I wish for that to remain until he is ready
