Thanks everyone, After further investigation, it appears to be the 4db attenuator on the A4 Assembly. It looks like some signal was passing through (extremely low), only enough to read frequency etc.

The input resistance on the RF I/O? should be? very very? close to 50 ohms .? Usually? well within 5% and my upper limit is 10% ...should be? easily within 45 to 55 ohms ( make sure you factor

I recommend you measure the resistance from center conductor to shield of the R FIO connector. You should measure around 50 to 60 alms. Could be that high power and put a tenuator is open? Rick

Shortly after I got mine (about 15 years ago) - I discovered the same symptoms. I would first look at the attenuator on the A4 Assembly. My original one had the solder tab burned in 2. I guess enough

I reprogrammed the original factory firmware (rev 6.11) eproms with 14.14. They are all 150us parts. No difference. Also checked for bent pins at the CPU , signal and memory? board connectors. None
