Re: Agilent 8920b non-recoverable error #hp8920b

Oh the carnage, but seriously, it's actually a simple device on the inside, surprising. Two upper Emitters and Receivers for the out of phase pulses to tell the machine which direction, which is fed through a 74HC14 then to the 74HC86 I believe. Also a lower set of emitter/collector that opens to detect button push using the ring around the bottom of the slotted cage. I tested the Receivers with normal LEDs in different colors and my TV remote, so far the IR light at 940nm seems the strongest and probably what its meant to receive, none of the emitters worked so I didn't have something to go on. I believe the board only puts out around 10-15mA depending on forward voltage of the emitter, they get 5v, but with the voltage drop across the emitter and controlling with mA, the parts I ordered should be okay, may or may not work, who knows.

For information, the collectors seem to stay up in the MegaOhms (pretty much open), and when an IR source is detected they drop to around 20-30kOhm with 5v through them.

Not sure if anything I type here helps anyone haha.
