Hi there,
I've had an HP8601A for about 5 years. It worked perfectly when I got it, and it still does. It's a very nice instrument, and very useful for all manner of things, particularly filter alignment. It's also nice to set it up to measure the frequency response of your 'scope (up to 110 MHz). to get best use of the 8601, you should try and get its matching marker generator - the HP8600. Makes testing a pleasure. Cheers Rob Fincher VK3BRF --- "Ahlbrecht, Andreas" <ahlbra@...> wrote: Hi Group,Find local movie times and trailers on Yahoo! Movies. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Rob, thanks for the quick answer!
Can you or anyone else advise or point me to some resource on
(You see, I'm an eager-to-learn hobbyist - not a professional.) Many thanks!

Hello again Andi,
Good choice. Though if that's all you intend to do, then a marker gen might be superfluous. It's of more use when you need to set up a pass-band across a fairly wide frequency range, such as aligning a TV IF strip (who does that these days) or in certain high-end radio receivers where a broader intermediate stage passband is required. I have a Racal RA17 receiver with such a stage, and the marker gen made quite a difference. Basically, the marker inserts "blips" on the screen trace at frequencies you select. The 8600 has 5 markers, all of which can be set using the digital frequency read-out. so you can assess very quickly how the passband's shape is coming up. So, I'd recommend the 8601 for a start - see how you like it, and then look our for a marker gen if yiu think you need it. In Australia, good 8601's are still commanding high prices - typically in the range AUD200 to 500 (USD150 to 350). Good luck. Hello!
Talking about HP8601As.... I have a couple of them (50 Ohm versions; be sure the one you find is not a 75 Ohm version!) but, unfortunately, one has a bad output power amplifier. I wonder if somebody has a parts unit which could act as a donnor of that part. Thanks! JOSE ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 73 EB5AGV / EC5AAU - JOSE V.
