54831M Booting Problem

I'm working on restoring my 54831M, but have run into a weird error.? With the original Win95 (maybe 98, don't remember which one its on), I can't get it to boot past the Infinium splash screen.? I have tried using the OS recovery CD that is Agilent software version 2.20, but that is giving me the same result.
?
It appears to boot into Windows alright, but does not advance past an infinium splash screen, no menu, nada.? The PS2 keyboard I am using freezes up, even the numlock/capslock go unresponsive.? Switching the drive over from my 54832B allowed it to boot into XP and I do see waveform acquisition data at least (although it is very slow/laggy to navigate).? The front panel buttons and lights do absolutely nothing here even within the selftest menu of the Win XP 54832B drive, and I am not sure if it is a Win XP driver problem or a hardware problem (since I cannot test it in 95).? Are there any drivers I maybe need for Win XP that differ from the 54831M and the 54832B which I don't have?? Or is there something else likely to be the problem here.? I'm thinking there might be a chance the HDD is cooked, although it seems to test ok using a USB IDE adapter in Win 10?

Hi zgoode,
I probably won't help much but I can only point you to a very similar problem with a Tektronix scope. Please see this thread
https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/tek-csa7404-repair-project/
in the TiN message section: NVRAM Failure (Scope boots, OS boots, but TekScope application hangs on welcome splash screens, front panel not responding
Thanks,
Wojciech

Huh, thats interesting.? What TiN describes is pretty much exactly what is happening with my scope.? Before I try and track down a possible hardware problem I am going to try and swap in a new drive (possibly attempting to upgrade to XP in the process).? Since I have the recovery discs, I'm hoping I should be able to track down the drivers I need somewhere in that file folder system.? Although, based on what I read in TiN's post, some kind of NVRAM? is my next thing to hunt for since I have already checked most cables and connectors which appear fine.
