The System II designation refers to the second design of MODULAR case. Not all HPAK instruments use modular cases. Obviously the ones pre-dating? it? can't.
339A and 3456A both use modular cases, the 3546A is System II and the 339A is the original, often called System I. The 5315A is non-modular (plastic case) so neither System I or II while the 5315B is modular, System II.
System I one piece exposed, cast side frames, sheet ot multipart front panel
System II one piece cast front panel frame, side structure hidden under cover panels.
HP sold both original and System II cases along side each other at least into the seventies.
Note that not all original modular cases (System I) had handles cast integrally with the side frames. you can't use absence of handles to determine case type.
The quirk of groups starting a new thread if you reply to an email is very annoying.

depending on how I change the ICs the clock seems to run or not.
What I couldn't get away from is that some numbers are skipped
when setting the clock. This is annoying if you jump from min 58
to 60 then the minutes do not fit anymore. Much more strange is
that the display Data Hold does not go off when the clock is
running and also no matter if the clock is running and has a
plausible time or not always a time error is displayed. If I
remove the J-K flip-flop on the PCB these two indicators are off.
The device seems to be intact but I had exchanged it for an
identical one. I would exchange the other devices if HP had not
used Inverse Logic devices for the counters. Or is there a cheap
replacement for 1820-0119 and 1820-0116?
I would hate to build my own replacement for that...
Due to the inverse logic and the speed, the devices cannot be
tested on my current IC Tester... I suppose that the tester can
check HC and LS devices, so it has something to do with speed? Or
what is the reason that SN74xx devices can not be tested with most
IC testers that are available at eBay.

I recently bought a 11575J Firmware upgrade kit,
the 85101-80114 security key works fine, not so much
the Firmware Floppy Disc (81501-80116). There is a disc error and the
PG_8510C File is corrupted.
Could somebody be so nice and send me a copy of the content of this disc?

don't touch the electrolytics, I'm going to have to replace the
"delayed action smoke grenade" Rifa capacitors, before they
detonate.
That will give me some idea of how difficult it would be to
replace the electrolytics.

where there are ground planes.

CRT Monitor module from HP8953E Available...
Gang,
I recently replaced a video monitor module in a HP8953E.? The original module had a small burnt section on one of the boards.? The CRT was producing bright and clear images before the module quit, but does have a slight burn, but should not be a problem.? I suspect the high voltage transformer is defective.
The module is marked:

I believe this module is used in several different products. I would be happy to give this to a good home for only shipping cost or free pickup in the Los Angeles area.

Regarding the new thread creation, I was thinking that it was caused by members changing the subject block when replying to an existing thread. Whatever the cause I agree that it is annoying. Hopefully the moderator will solve the issue. The problem seems to be more common on this group than on other IO groups.

PROBLEM SOLVED !
After the memory card was unplugged from the CPU card which has retention the
battery and then plugged again the problem disappeared.
Conclusion the ERASE ALL of the analyzer doesn't clear properly the internal
memory, the only way to do a real clear is to disassemble the memory card from
the CPU board of the 70900B.
I presume also for the A version.

and adjustment and also schematics?
this is the one? I have used to repair multiple of these units in the
past...
one time however, in one of the signature tables (dont remember which one)
there was a signal (clock?) that did not exist on the
logic board that I was repairing but it was in the schematics. I managed to
create that signal using a spare gate?
in one of the chips on the board and a bit of wiring.?

I've used the shunt technique in the past, and I definitely won't
admit to leaving a shunt in permanently.
I'm not sure what to look at next. The 8562 or a Datron DC
calibrator, where the cal out isn't working - where the cal out
voltage can be +-1kV :)

1) Yes, it was running during many years !
2) Too bad ...
3) I'll re-install the CPU+Mem? boards and as I unplugged the
Memory board from the CPU where the battery is located I'm sure
the old programs are gone.
4) Not necessary it worked for years, this isn't a compatibility
of the DLP with the last OSA firmware.
If really needed I could reinstall the old PROMS as I installed
PLCC sockets several years ago with the new firmware.
I would like to avoid to do this because time consuming.
5) As I discovered this problem with the already loaded DLP since
years and then with a fresh load (this morning) from the original
personality I'm pretty sure than the DLP isn't faulty.
For the moment I would suspect a faulty RAM, will continue to
investigate.
