Steve, Is that one fit a 8590A by chance? I have another box that has a noisy Yig in it as well. I suspect the yig heater isn¡¯t working, it drifts +- several hundred Khz. Causing to analyzer to fail

OTOH, low enough charge rates are OK. Since like-size NiMH cells generally have a (much) higher capacity, so permanently charging them in the HP 85668 A might be OK. I don't have the numbers at hand.

NiCd cells are 1.2 V nominally, making the 3-cell pack 3.6 V, a bit higher while fully charged. This is the correct value for the HP 8566/68 A, I wouldn't confidently put in something like 4.5 V or
