Good information. The fact that you see the REF UNLOCK suggests that the 10MHz freq ref may need adjustment. This will mask any mis adjustment of the 100 MH REF OSC.

As far as schematics on those beasts goes you have to look for CLIP not schematics , agilent called those Component Level Information Packets , there is none specifically covering the ES but it is

The monitor is monochrome, but it MAY get rgb and show as distinct shades
of green. Do you have different colours on the vga output? If yes, probably

Normally labs in the industry run 24/7 , even if people work 9-5 there are usually test labs that run tests that often run for days or even weeks HALT/HAST tests usually run for a long time non stop

E8285A does not turn off

My old trusty HP E8285A got a strange problem.
Lets assume it is on and working. It turns off when I push the power button.
in 3 or 4 seconds without touching the unit, it turns on again
