Yeah. I think if you can track down the Japanese manual, that might solve the dilemma. Or a see if the any of the HP Scotland guys on the list can remember what it's all about. :^)

I believe that if you don't change the hardware jumper then the codes you enter are not programmed into the EEPROM. The new option will revert when you cycle the power on the 8753C. So you can use

I don't know specifically for that model, but your symptoms sure sound like a bad SRAM chip to me. Do you know if the self-test does a full test of the memory? -Matthew
