And to add insult to injury, while I was struggling to fix the power supply, a 54717A was sold on EBay :(

Re: Transformer data
You can judge by bridge rectifiers diodes. They all get hot. I think it is 15-20 amps for +5v rail and 5-8 amps for +20v rail.

Re: Transformer data
Glenn no idea on the current. But you may be able to get a hint from each of the power supplies that use the transformer. Most HP supplies have over current limiting. Use .6V and dived by the current

Why do you want to know? Are you trying to find a replacement or planning to use one in a ifferent application? Roert G8RPI.

Re: Using an 8903B to analyze power audio amp
Yes, you are correct, but the 8 ohm or 4 ohm load has to be rated for high power, especially if it is only cooled by ambient air. For a 10W amp we use a 100W non inductive restive load. You also need

Using an 8903B to analyze power audio amp
Hi Group, I've done quite a bit of searching and so far I haven't been able to find how to exactly connect a power amp to an 8903B to make some basic measurements. I know that the 8903B's signal

Glenn, I have seen many various methods to empirically determine secondary current ratings of unknown transformers but a lot of them apply to either single secondaries or the larger utility

Re: Dead 54720D
I just cracked up laughing at your comment. Those stupid batteries. But at least most quality equipment has either defaults or internal self cal. Or maybe its just older equipment has those behaviors.
