It's a fairly simple nose-cone-like shape; however, I think the tricky part is there are some fine OD threads that might not print well and, instead, may need to be machined after printing.

You can still get the Windows XP Mode VM ? ? This was built for Win7 to do exactly what you¡¯re talking about, running XP only software. I got a bunch of GNU software downloaded and running as well.?? I did not alter the SCSI wiring, just replaced the hard disk with the SCSI2SD. I left the CD drive as originally configured.??? The Acard ARS-2000SUP was $200 when I bought it about a year ago, and that was already more than what I wanted to sink into an old logic analyzer.? But I had to know if it was going to get me the big speed improvement.? I bought it new on ebay, and after looking just now it seems to have vanished for any reasonable price.? $1000+ is crazy pricing.
You could send mail to Inertial Computing and ask about the 16601A with the SCSI2SD v6.? The 16601A appears in the compatibility list for the v5 here: Inertial Computing did give me a full refund after we failed to get the v6 working. ? In my search for solid state SCSI devices, I also came across this: ? No prices and I have no experience with them.? Judging by the fancy look of their web site and their customer brag list, it's probably expensive. Of course there's always the possibility of finding an actual SSD SCSI drive, but compatibility with the16601A will likely be hit-or-miss, and like everything SCSI now-a-days, sure to be over-priced. |

The owner of Inertial Computing was very helpful in diagnosing all of this.? Great guy to work with.? But ultimately, the technology just didn't quite work as expected in THIS particular application...at least for me and across two analyzers. Scott ? |

I have a 16702B logic analyzer, and I was unable to get the SCSI2SD v6 to work on it after over a month of back and forth with Inertial Computing.? They thought it was a signaling level problem and even sent me a modified board to try, but to no avail.? That was about a year and a half ago, and I still don't see the 16702B on their compatibility list.? The 16702A *is* on the list, but I can't vouch for it.
I also tried the SCSI2SD v5, and that worked fine, but it was actually about 15% slower than the original hard drive (measuring a boot time of about 3:20). I eventually ended up with an Acard ARS-2000SUP, which is a 20MB/s SATA to SCSI converter, and installed an SSD in it.? That was only faster by about 10-20%. I was hoping for a big improvement in getting rid of the mechanical disk, but clearly these systems are constrained by more than just disk I/O. |

Those plug-in fuses are convenient but expensive. Just replacing missing ones can take a lot of money at over $5 a pop, and if they start blowing and you have to troubleshoot, it can get quite painful. If you are willing to solder in a leaded fuse that looks like a small resistor you can save a lot of money, which is what I did years ago? on an HP 8640B signal generator. You do lose the convenience of a plug-in but it costs a lot less. (I wrote about this in my "Idea Exchange" column in the QRP Quarterly, a small ham radio publication, in 2011.)
I have some things to take care of today but I'll pass along some DigiKey numbers later. (The leaded fuses from Littelfuse cost under a dollar each.)

The 4145A/B uses the well known 1345A display module.? You can find this in innumerable other instruments. E4407B analyser
Hi,
I have a problem with this instrument. In analyser mode, when I will activate Zoom function, it freeze during two long minutes and then it works. When I push Next Window, again 2 long minutes hanging out. Any idea or diagnostic to run? Neil, probably the ¡°ancient¡± XP virtual machine would be ideal. If you could also do a full Wireshark capture while doing the update, it might be possible to reverse-engineer the protocol and write a modern replacement. I doubt that they did anything very fancy. It might be a good old TFTP transfer for all I know.
