Same data can be viewed in timing mode, but the clock is not an edge change (any) or a timebase, it's the clock pin on the pod as you have defined it. Harvey

Re: HP3582A Display unreadable
Have you tried the test switch on A9? You should get two rows of capital A's, a square wave, and two more rows of A's at the bottom.? This "isolates the Processor Ram and the Processor I/O Bus from the Display Section." (I'm quoting the Service Manual here).? It won't give you a smoking gun but will rule out some areas.
Don't feel bad, I was ignored the first time I asked a question about a fixer upper 3582A I bought too.? Got it working finally though. :) Dave |

16700A setup
I have a set of lines as follows:
IWR_R Write Strobe (rising edge) pulsed low to write data IA_H_D_L Address or Data on AD0-AD4 IRD_L Read Strobe (active low) pulsed low to read data AD0 AD1 AD2 Bi-di Address/Data Lines AD3 controlled by strobes and AD4 IA_H_D_L The address should be latched when IA_H_D_L goes low I want to display the active address in hex, whether read or write, and the value of the data How do I set this up in an 16700A? to display the way I want it clearly it is relatively simple to just display the "raw" signal 0/1s I have read the training guide but seem none the wiser for doing so :(. Re: HP 5347A frequency counter input level question
The signal generator output has been verified to be accurate. The 5347A reads the frequency quite accurately, so I think the A12 microwave assembly should be OK. I was just not sure if the counter could only take signals -10 dBm or lower in power? If you have an 5347A, could you verify that in your unit? I will have to dig into the service manual to figure out what triggers the overload annunciator.

Re: Need copy/scan/borrow one page from HP 8673C/D service manual 08673-90022 or 08673-90100
Hello,
I understand your frustration. After seeing a recent ebay listing, link here:??(I only included this link so you can have a picture of the cover which was useful in my search below) Well, needless to say I was partially upset that I missed that while on vacation =/. Still, I became revitalized at searching for this again. I ended up finding this link googling "8673C Volume 2 Manual" which the ebay pics helped. Its diagrams are "broken up" or "cut up" in letter format but at least one can actually read values on this schematic. I haven't had the time to see if its complete or missing something though it seems to have "continuity" when I looked over one component diagram. Hope it helps. Kudos to the guy who took the time to scan it for free. ? |

Hope the meeting goes well. Being retired here, I got roped into several volunteer organizations and spend more time in meetings than I did when I was working! Re: 141T reference replacement..a cure??
While it's true that incident light may not be a viable solution, aren't we having fun? Somebody blowing fuses, please try it!
I am exasperated that I don't have time or space to examine my other 141T mainframe which is said to have "a power supply problem". I promised to help my neighbor with a tape deck, and that will keep me on the sidelines for a while. I will, at least, scope the +100V transient of the working mainframe. My flickering power strip is powering this computer. Once I swap it out, I can compare its illuminated strike voltage with another one that doesn't flicker. Is NE-2 normally used in lighted rocker switches, or something else? Will I be comparing apples to apples, or is it a fool's errand? Jeremy, Hi, and thanks for the email.? As I said, there was an 8600 for sale recently at a very low price (fifty dollars!!) and I missed seeing it.? One other is offered at some $500.? Ugh.PS: If you see some garbage at the bottom of this message, I have *tried* to delete it - I just upgraded my operating system (Mac Book) and the editing is acting strangely. Hello David, that is a very interesting experiment
you did! The LEDs that use a white phosphor have a fair amount of UVA I believe.
It is possible the hanging a LED in the vicinity of the Neon may be a relatively
easy cure.....certainly easier than lifting the PCB !!
?
Well done!

I can add another: I had watched for an "affordable" HP 8601 sweep generator on eBay for a long time when one finally showed up at a very modest buy-it-now price, described as "Doesn't Power Up". I thought, "power transformer, or line switch - a gamble, but worth it."? It turned out to be the power switch! Sooo... I'm now looking for a replacement switch (the white push button kind with the lamp inside) and still hoping a squirt of De-Oxit through a drilled hole will make this one work. Yes, I missed the very cheap companion 8600 marker generator last week.? Sigh. Regards, Roy |

Re: Experience with AliExpress for connectors
Bob Albert
I have used AliExpress for years without a? big problem.? The only trouble was with some transistors; I ended up with counterfeit but by the time I discovered it, the warranty had expired.? The 'buyer protection' isn't worth much.? And of course AliBaba can't verify that the parts aren't counterfeit, since they are just agents and don't actually handle the parts. All the other stuff has been exactly as described.? A couple of Kelvin clips weren't too well designed but again, nobody was trying to put one over and I do use them anyway.? The prices are so low you can afford an occasional anomaly. Bob On Wednesday, July 19, 2017 9:11 AM, "John Griessen john@... [hp_agilent_equipment]" wrote: On 07/19/2017 10:01 AM, 'David C. Re: HP 5347A frequency counter input level question
Just suggesting you verify your signal generator before you have an unrecoverable oops. The front panel input goes into A12 Microwave Assembly, you do not want to smoke that, U1 Sampler is one part I have never located other than in another unit. The output goes to A6 IF AMP / Detector, there is an adjustment for the overload point. Perhaps obtain a manual and go thru the procedures. Better safe than @$#%!

A quick run-through appears to show that the instrument is working and displays frequencies correctly on both input 1 and input 2. Input 1 (the high-frequency input, 500 MHz to 22 GHz) has an input power level of +7 dBm Max. However, on my unit, I get the "Overload" message if I exceed about -10 or -11 dBm. Is this normal? I thought I could input up to +7 dBm without overloading the input? |
