Perhaps a bit OT to the current subject, but:
I had a friend who had problems with his 141T. The supply voltages were unstable, the CRT did not respond to brightness and focus adjustments, etc.
We could not see any visual cracks. The semicoductors were all OK when tested. In the end,?we took out the PSU-board and resoldered it.
That did the trick.

Re: Getting the most amplitude stable CW signal from the HP8350B/83592B
As a acquisition delayed followup, I got the 8472B detector from eBay (perfect) and used it with the HP83592B sweeper plugin in CW mode. With some tinkering of the leveling feedback pot, I achieved +- 1 dB leveling over 0.01 to 20 GHz. This was twice as good as the Internal Leveling over the same 4 bands, but not nearly good enough to calibrate some spectrum analyzers without an axure way to measure the output power to about +-~ 0.1 dB.
That is how I "discovered" the wonderful works of the Agilent/Keysight USB Power Sensors and 2 software options (N1918A and BenchVue) to read and control them. Boy, am I earning eBay $$!
I am sure that will lead to more posts after I get in a dozen hours or so of learning about them.

There is one on the place of all things, low page count. A drive, though. Too many items ruined by common carriers. I try to pick up anything of weight that has some intrinsic value.

One thing you might look at while considering color printers: is it
telling on me?
Modern color printers put a pattern of yellow dots on the printed
page as mandated
by the government.?? These dots encode things like the printer
model, serial number,
and IP address.?? Older printers do not do this.?? Here is a list of
printers that do and
do not put these tracking dots on the page.

G'day Folks,
I cheated as I had removed the board several times before and didn't want that hassle
any more.
Snip the neon as close to the bulb envelope as possible and solder the zener(s) and resistor
to the left over wires. Keep the polarity of the zener in mind!
On both my units , that solution has been working for in excess of 5 years.

The TE Connectivity AMP Connectors 1-1761184-1 and 5-1761184-1 seem to
match the HP-HIL cable connectors.
Where 1-1761184-1 has the "A" key for the One-Dot cable end
and 5-1761184-1 has the "E" key for the Two-Dot cable end.
These appear to be a stocked item at Digikey and likely similar:
Mouser, Arrow, etc.
Other manufacturer may be using the same SDL, Plug Modular Connector 4
Positions Position Shielded Crimp connectors for products other than HP-HIL.
I happened to have an IBM Point of Sale LCD Display that uses the
"A" keyed connector for it's receptacles/cables though it likely uses
RS-485 vs. HP-HIL. similar to:?
I tried the "A" (One-Dot) end of an HP-HIL in the receptacle
of the LCD display and it made good electrical contact and mechanically
latched. ?The IBM SDL cable that I have has "A" connectors on
both ends and it has a different pinout than the HP-HIL cable. ?Still,
similar IBM POS cables might be used for the "A" end of HP-HIL cable
or by remapping the the wiring and hacking the "A" key to fit in a
"E" receptacle.
I provide this to add to the discussion and possibly stimulate others
research/evaluation. ?I make no claims to suitability/accuracy/etc. I
don't represent any of the vendors. ?
I thought I had an HP-HIL keyboard that I might use to help develop a
"real" PS/2 to HP-HIL converter, but it was an HP PS/2 keyboard with
modular cables. ?Also, my plan use for my logic analyzer with HP-HIL is as
spare parts for a newer logic analyzer with PS/2. ?So, my converter plans
are suspended.?

141T reference replacement
Yes you can replace the ZZ1000 [equivalent] neon reference tube in the 141T power supply with a zener. Although this solves the fuse blowing problem, the temperature coeficient of voltage of the power supplies [plural - because this is the reference voltage for 4 supply rails] is degraded, because zener diodes have a high TC at these voltages.. In practice you might not be bothered by this. I did this with my 141T, and it`s still doing just fine. I'd get a 4050 or 4100. These printers are REAL workhorses, has parallel
port, network port, lots of memory, duplex option, cartridge for 15000
prints, can use 2/3 paper drawers and the whole works. I have some here and
just can't let it go. Usually locks up a solenoid on paper pickup assembly,
but after fix (I have a video on youtube with hundreds of thousands of views
describing the repair but in portuguese) it wil work **forever**. I do love
this printer <3

Here's an example:
If you make a replacement circuit that provides the same or close enough shunt regulator specs, it should drop in OK? without changing anything else. I think you can perform the surgery all from the component side without removing the PS board.
One nice thing about using a modern reference circuit is that the voltage won't overshoot. I'm convinced that many 141 failures were caused by temporary over-voltage while the gas tube had to reach striking voltage - significantly higher than running voltage.
