I don't think you can tell from the front, unless there is significant delamination. Generally you can see if there is a plate from the side. You might take a careful look at the star area with a

Hi John, well, I don't know how to tell if that's the case. The CRT face seems not having a glued addictional plate, but it might also be glued so well that it appears like the real front of the CRT.
