Re: HP 1820-0090 from 5216A counter
Hello,
Fedlog says it is a TTL 4 bit storage register. No JEDEC P/N cross reference given, but it is probably 74xx series. It is also the same as an 1820-0091 and 1820-0116. HP 1820-0090 from 5216A counter
Hi all,
I've got a dead 1820-0090 IC from an 5216A counter and am looking for a common replacement if it exists. Its function is "buffer storage" and it sits between a decade counter & a decoder driver chip. In my search I came across which has heaps of HP semicond/IC cross reference data but unfortunately doesn't include the 1820-0090. Cheers Ian Du Rieu |

Although these analyzers are vintage they still
remain very popular. The parts are readily avalable and usually quite cheap. We
have several variations avalable if you are interested. You can call us at

Re: HP spectrum analyzers
Hello Jose,
Thank you my friend for your response. I find your comments to be very helpful. People like you make the world a much better place to live. I would like to be able to ask you questions in the future with your permission. How do you use your equipment from day to day? Are you interested in radio or other electronics? I will learn more by looking carefully at the web sites that you showed me. I have a fair collection of Tektronix 7000 mainframes and about half of the plugins. 2-7603 2-7704A 3-7904 1-7CT1 2-7D01 1-7L12 2-7D11 almost all 7Axx Amplifiers almost all 7Bxx Timebases I would like to see photos of your collection if you have them and I will let you know as my collection of 141T starts to grow. Thank you for the encouragement. Regards George Sign up for Internet Service under $10 dollars a month, at |
Re: HP spectrum analyzers
Jose V. Gavila
Hello George,
I started a collection of Tektronix gear but have developed an interest in HP's assortment of spectrum analyzers. The 141T seems to offer the biggest variety and seems to be readily available on eBay. I'm interested in general comments about these instruments. Are they servicable, are parts generally available in generic form? Any recommendations?Well, I have a similar disease than you (check my WEB pages for proofs ;-)! ) In last years, I have got the following HP-141T gear: *Mainframes: HP-141A (storage; old round tube) HP-140T HP-140T (another one) *Plug-ins: RF HP-8553L HP-8553B HP-8554B HP-8555A (unworking :-( ) HP-8556A IF HP-8552B HP-8552B (another one) HP-8552B (just another ;-) !) HP-8552B (unworking) *Accessories: HP-8443A tracking generator (for the 8553B) HP-8445A tracking preselector (for the 8555A; untested) In order to complete my setup, I am missing an HP-8444A and a working HP-8555A (or repair the one I own) I have fixed myself some items. All three mainframes had power supply problems (mostly related to drifted or opened resistors!). So first thing I recommend is to check power supply voltages. And about plugins, a couple 8552Bs had intermittent problems. I am trying to fix the 8555A but, at the moment, lack of proper test equipment. I would say all is serviceable, as there are lots of plugins in the market (and it is lot easier for you in the USA!). And equipment is very good for amateur and semi-professional use. So, IMHO, go for it! Regards, JOSE PS: I have most of the Service Manuals, if you need any. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 73 EB5AGV / EC5AAU - JOSE V. HP 652A Test Oscillator
babin_perry
Hi All,
I have a 652a (s.n. 826-01432) that has output level problems but only at a very specific range of frequencies. On the x10 range from ~40Hz to ~75Hz, the output level seems to be modulated by another signal. I thought it may have to do with ripple on one of the supplies but everything looks clean. The level between 40Hz and 75Hz will swing virtually full scale on the meter at some frequencies but is relatively stable at 60Hz. On all of the other ranges, it's fine. I've downloaded a manual from BAMA but it's for the newer model and the boards are different. If someone has seen this problem and can point me in the right direction or knows where I can get an older service manual, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks PB |
USM-323 HP8640M manual wanted

Hi Gang,
Some more info has become available. It appears that it is not called the HP8640M. The correct name is the USM-323. Anyone have one of these? 73 Ray vk2ilv Roger said: the opt.323 is not the same as the 8640M.Ray said: I need an HP8640B opt323 manual to fix my generator. |
HP54503A DSO Main Board Repair
sreaves22655
Hello Group,
I have a pristene 54503A DSO with a problem in the Horizontal timebase. It fails with many codes mostly related to the trigger area. I could supply the codes on request. Does anyone out in the ether have any experience fixing these boards? I have the HP service manual but as you probably know there are no schematics in the manual. If anyone has them I would like to get a set. As far as getting the unit repaired externally it most likely is not worth it since when HP last had exchange boards they wanted way more than what the scope is worth these days. I would like to put it to use in my ham shack. Thanks to all, Sam W3OHM |

i didn't knew the 8569, but be very careful with the knob, make sure that there is no slight defect in the switch which is probably repairable. if you use some force and some parts broke (-maybe more than yet) than you have big problems. i have heared about that, that hp plastic parts get very brittle with the time, so be careful! HP8569B question
Hi all,
Is here someone kind enough to help me with my HP8569B? I got it today and I am little confused with frequency span button. Although it is marked up to 500MHz I can not set it to span greater than 10 MHz. It seems that it is somehow mechanically blocked, there is a small plastic rod going from analyzer's front panel towards the span knob and ending inside it. I did little research and figured out that this rod is actually the thing that blocks the span button from being turned further than to 10MHz span. Shall I press something or do some other action to disable that blocking? Thanks for any advice. Michal Vanka |

Re: PROM Programmer for HP5150A
Hi,
i remember programming that chip some 20 years ago. It is fairliy simple and because the item is so small, you can do it "by hand" if you can't find another solution (wiring some switches and a timer for the programming voltage). In my TTL data book of 1979 they show the pinout and write: See Bipolar Microcomputer Components Data Book LCC4270. That one should be available somewhere in a university library or so. I also have a sheet of notes on programming the S188 somewhere, where... Regards Dieter Teuchert KJ Chadwick wrote: Hi All,... -- Dipl.-Phys. PROM Programmer for HP5150A
KJ Chadwick
开云体育Hi
All,
?
I have
a thermal printer HP 5150A that requires a new character code PROM on the BCD
(Binary Coded Decimal) circuit card.? (The HP part number is 1816-0561.)
The PROM is type 74S188 which is a 256 bit memory organised as 32*8
bits.
?
I can
purchase the IC and I can work out the required bit map but I have no way of
programming the PROM.?
?
Anyone
know of a circuit for a suitable PROM programmer for this chip or could provide
this service for a fee?? All I can find on the net are references to EEPROM
or flash and newer chips.
?
Thanks
for any help,
?
