Hi,
i remember programming that chip some 20 years ago. It is fairliy simple and because the item is so small, you can do it "by hand" if you can't find another solution (wiring some switches and a timer for the programming voltage).

In my TTL data book of 1979 they show the pinout and write: See Bipolar Microcomputer Components Data Book LCC4270.

That one should be available somewhere in a university library or so. I also have a sheet of notes on programming the S188 somewhere, where...

Hi All,
I have a thermal printer HP 5150A that requires a new character code PROM on the BCD (Binary Coded Decimal) circuit card. (The HP part number is 1816-0561.) The PROM is type 74S188 which is a 256 bit memory organised as 32*8 bits.
I can purchase the IC and I can work out the required bit map but I have no way of programming the PROM.
