HP 4260 Thanks for Help
r_j_shehan
Hello again,
I have already received a number of replies about my sick 4260A. Thanks to the group for their efforts and to the individuals for trying to obtain parts or another unit for me. Being located where I am, it is almost impossible to obtain parts for anything, let alone an obscure, old piece of test equipment. I am also looking on ebay, so if anyone spots a 4260A anywhere, let me know, although just the resistor would be better due to the high cost of postage to Australia. Thanks again, Rod. |

开云体育Hello Jack.
?
Thank you for getting back to me. I could be
interested in the 140A and also the 851B. Is there a possibility that you could
send some photos of both? When your time permits please let me
know.
?
Also, when you do happen to run accross any of the
military versions that I have mentioned in my e-mail, (heavy rascals!). Thanks
for your time and for your efforts and you and yours have a great
day.

Re: HP 4260A Parts needed
Rod,
Welcome to the hp_agilent_equipment group! If you happen to know anyone who lives near Norfolk, Virginia, the following gov't auction lot might be of particular interest: Bidding opens 5/18 and closes 5/20 at 5 PM. It looks like that auction lot contains some very nice equipment, in unusually-good condition. The HP 4260A Bridge has a condition code of B4, which should mean that it's working fine! For anyone who's close to Norfolk who might be interested in obtaining some of the other equipment in that lot, who could also ship the 4260A to Rod, here's what else is included: Qty (2) AVO E2540 Resistance-Voltage bridges, in A1 condition(!) ESI 250DE Impedance Bridge (cond F7; i.e. probably working) ESI SR1030 100K Resistance Standard, in A1 condition(!) ESI Capacitance Decade, in A4 condition (0.100 to 1.111 uF in 0.001 uF steps, +/- 1%, 500vdc) Guildline 9154A Voltage Standard, in A1 condition(!), 1 volt w/uncertainty of 2 microvolts over 1 year! Shalltronix Decade Resistor, in A4 condition, 0 to 1.111 kOhms in 1 Ohm steps Clarostat 240C Decade Power Resistor (F7 cond), 0 to 999.999 kOhms in 1 Ohm steps, up to 1000vdc max, 5A max. Alternatively, anyone who lives near Norfolk who could just at least go to pick up and ship the equipment could help, too. We could work out any deal you like, if you don't want to do the bidding yourself, whether you just want part of all of the other equipment, or cash reimbursement + expenses etc, or whatever other ideas you might have. Let me know, as soon as possible, since the bidding starts very soon. And, of course, anyone who knows where someone could obtain an HP 4260A parts unit could be of great help, too. I have been in close contact with our new member, Rod Shehan, over the past week or two, via email. And I believe, strongly, that he is deserving of our help, and that he will also become a very valuable member of the group. Sorry for the re-post. I had the wrong "Subject" line, the first time.

I also have a copy of the FedLog (Federal Logistics) Database, with which I can usually find commercial and military part number/model designation cross-references for a given military for commercial part number or model designation. And that's not just for *equipment* numbers. It also contains most *individual* part numbers! Often, for example, a semiconductor that is just marked with an HP part number can be identified completely, from the database, resulting in a list of commercial part numbers and manufacturers' names, and sometimes the technical specs of the device, etc. And the database seems to contain everything from mule harnesses and horse whips (and where to get them, hehe) to modern ICs and systems (up through about 2002 or so, anyway). So, if anyone would like me to attemp a part-number xref, email me. By the way: I have an HP 608D, too (and all THREE of the military PDF manuals for it). It's a big, gorgeous 0.5 MHz to 510 MHz signal generator (or, in some cases, apparently, 10 MHz to 410 Mhz). Mine was still almost perfectly calibrated, when I got it! (It's for SALE, too...). That one (the HP 608D) is also known as the AN/USM-44A, with the primary unit also known as the TS-510A/U. Re: hp 5100A /5110A synth set
Hello Morris!
In the Synthesizer Driver, there is a step recovery comb generator which was driven by the 1MHz Signal. From those comb generator the ouput was filtered through a lot of filtersbanks to filter out the many frequencies that are available at the outputconectoRS at the rear. I expect that something around the SRD was wrong, the SRD is located (when i rememer right) in an oven, too so maybe that oven is defective. But maybe the normal oven for the xtal has a little overshoot, too or is defective. I have the Manuals for those both units at our Ham-Radio clubstation. I have to look there in the next days. Hello Hank and other people in the HP_agilent group!
Crikey, "light-years from any recognized civilzation", where on earth does that put me then? Beyond the outer universe rim? I live in a town so small in Western Australia that even people from WA havn't heard of. I will post my actual intro message separately. I have two HP scopes. One is a 130C, which I will probably keep, at least for now. The other is a 140A with 1405A and 1420A plug ins. I will sell the 140A but at this time I have no idea what condition it is in, either cosmetically or functionally. If you are interested in the 140A let me know and I will check it out and get back to you. I also have an 851B Spectrum Analyzer Display, but I only have the display, not the rest of the unit. I will probably scrap the 851B for parts so if you need any knobs or other scope parts contained in the display unit I might be able to help you. Hi all,
I'm new to this group, but not so new to vintage HP and other test equipment. I'm sure there are a few familar names here! I have recently found a nice clean 5100A/5110A synthesizer set and would like to get it up & running. I tried the 5110A and found two problems: 1. The 1 MHz output is fine but none of the other outputs are there 2. The oven temp meter reading just keeps getting higher & higher till the meter goes off scale...obviously I have not left it in standby mode! Help! I really need some advice and especially a set of manuals. I am located in Melbourne Australia and would be happy to pay for copying & postage costs if anyone can help. Thanks, Morris Odell |

HP 3310A Function Generator - Problem
David Jarman
I managed to switch off and on my trusty HP 3310A yesterday while it
was connected to an audio system (not good practise!) and it now refuses to generate a signal from the low/high outputs. The mains indicator light comes on and the fuse appears OK. I don't have a circuit diagram. Can anyone help me to get my 3310A operational again please? Thanks in anticipation. David Jarman |
follow-up - HP 3439A
computeruser04
The HP 3439A has been repaired. It was C8 on A9 that had failed.
I then zeroed the readout it using a calibration procedure found at . Thanks to everyone who replied. I also have a service manual on the way to me from Joe VE7LBI. Question - I zero the readout after a 30minute warmup. All ranges read 0000 with the + & - flashing alternately. The Int Check -8000 is also set per the precedure. It will stay like that (zeroed) all day. If I turn it off then back on the next day - the zero calibration is off - not by much - sometimes +0001 or -0002. I can zero it again - and it will stay like that all day. Is this normal or am I being anal about a +35 year old instrument?
