Few lines of U26 content (B and R) found corrupted. By analogy with channel A and through many attempts, I managed to restore 100% of the original values. I attach my original U4 & U26 files, maybe it will help someday. Now all 3 channels have accuracy better than 0.1dB.
*** The problem was caused by imperfect contact between EEPROM and ZIF (TL866II). The first read failed and from that moment the content was forever corrupted. So be careful if you want to backup :)

Your files welcome received and successfully tested. Both EEPROMs (U4 & U26) were required to be written. Actual level accuracy was -1dB for all channels. Investigating your files I understood that I need to modify both EEPROMs using the good calibrations values from my channel A.
The result is more than satisfactory, less than 0.4dB error (B & R) and good linearity. Machine recovered and ready to use.

You are Right!. Its more easy with experience. I know the 8510C failure (No IF … ) and there are 2 more probable causes as I described on earlier emails. I see that HP troubleshooting warranties a minimum of assemblies movement.

I've no idea of the history of mine, there are no markings to state the option, but I have seen H29 on a few with the same spec and some had an additional plate stating "Testmeter electronics No. 3A HPG 70/1". Note these rechargeable 427As are 230V mains only, the transformer doesn't have a split primary seen with the regular option 01.
The manual is a regular civilian one, part no. 00427-90008 printed in June 1983, the option 01 battery is not a commonly available type, this might be why it was removed & not replaced, or they didn't want leakage problems.

Adding it to the files would be great David when you can. I contacted that eBay seller to ask if his offer was an original or reprint since no actual photo was shown. He did reply that it was no longer available and that was all. Was yours govt. surplus as well? ?The calibration sticker on mine stated “Battery not used”. I wonder if the manual you have reflects that?

The manuals don’t specify the levels buy it would be more than -10dBm for all frequencies it is working. The low band of sweeper don’t uses SRD. In my case over 6GHz the level drops very fast as frequency increases.? A good starting point is to run a self test. As result you will find a troubleshooting code RF.XXX , I can scan the part of the manual and send to you.?

There is no link, it's not on the web as far as I know.
I went for a walk to the storage unit yesterday, looked through various boxes and couldn't find the manual, once home I found it in the pile next to the washing machine.
It wouldn't have helped me last week with fixing mine, the rechargeable battery option is not covered, nor are intermittent shorts of the negative battery connection, caused by a previous user/owner.
If no one else has scanned this manual, I'll add it to the queue of jobs to do, it was bought from the now defunct Manualsplus, only one listed on ebay at the moment is quite expensive.

I had the same problem with my 8510C. Normally the problem is the SAF module . It has a SRD and high power amplifier that drives it . One of these components uses to get fried . This is before the leveling amplifier you say. To troubleshoot the failure I recommend you measure the output of this module , there are an auxiliar RF out in the rear side of 8360. There are a troubleshooting manual for this unit I recommend to buy a copy.? The same failure behavior happena of the VTO unit failes on test set 8515a / 8517a . There are also a STD inside that drives the samplers…?

I have so far established that this component might be faulty. I would like to know from your experience if you can guide me further on this with any suggestions. Share any block diagram of the swept series synthesiser.?

According to Keysight the 5086-7603 is a “bridge detector 2.4mm”, no mention of it being an amplifier and detector. I think your problem is before that detector if it only has -34 dbm coming into it.?
