HP 3585A Issues, Has anybody seen/solved anything like this before?
I finally decided to go down the rabbit hole of the 3585a. Mine was giving me a trouble where it would boot up and give me a calibration error saying ¡°error 02¡± and it USED to give waveform

Re: HP boxes: direction of air flow
Ask the manufacturers of virtually all PC's.
They find it is cheaper and easier to use the DVD player
as a dust filter...
If you pressurize the case, you have to study the air
flow and install

Re: HP boxes: direction of air flow
Yep.? I don't understand why you would even consider sucking dirty air through the vents and gaps.? ? ? ? ? Jim Ford?Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

You and me both. Everywhere I turn it's another detail that I didn't even realise existed, let alone know how to figure out. I don't even know a lot of the terminology being used.
I have too many

Re: HP boxes: direction of air flow
Hi Tom,
Regarding the HP 8517a/b S-Parameter Test Set, it features a positive pressure cooling system. The fan directs airflow into the unit. You can found the original fan photo in the

Re: HP8970 Controller/ROM
Just checked my 'files' and I found U1 - U13 files, both .BIN and .MOT, for the 8970A. Not sure where I got them as they date to 2007. Not my 'usual' label as I save from a unit I have.
If they

Reg,
I'm looking forward to the results of your work! And I'm very glad you got
your 3458A... I want one for myself too. One day! Its linearity is
mythical. I hope you're able to fix it in no

Re: HP11729C 640 MHz magic cable?
Hi Robin,
Phase is a very strong function of the frequency (for a good reason). I re-measured the phase this time checking the frequency of the signal generator with a counter, it was few kHz off.

Re: HP boxes: direction of air flow
Yes, but...
¡®On the other hand, if you suck on the case, you can open up holes
in the panels adjacent anything that needs cooling, and it will get
fresh cool air right on it. ¡®
Then what about

Re: HP boxes: direction of air flow
It depends on how the engineer was feeling on the day he
designed the cooling...
Basically, if you suck through a filter and blow into the
cabinet, you will need to spend a bit of effort making

Re: DIY 11667A Power Splitter, resistor placement?
Yes, your numbers look about right to me. I modelled your version using two pairs of 100R 1206 SMD resistors and assumed about 0.5nH at the launcher and some fringing capacitance there as well. This

Very good. I did the quick and ugly and so my performance is the other extreme.

I've built a lot of large electrical equipment enclosures for the chemical processing industry...
From a common sense perspective I always thought the fan & filter should draw air into the cabinet

That direct connection method using three resistors and three connectors soldered together would be a quick way to do it, and it should be possible using 1206 SMD resistors and SMA/3.5mm connectors. I

I don't know if I have a picture of what is inside the copper box but I built an attenuator with SMD resistors. In one leg of the pi-network I also added a 50-ohm matched tap to take out the
