Re: strange issue on Agilent 54641D MSO
Hi. If you need to resolder anything with a ceramic substrate (even SMD parts these days.)? Use one of the "eutectic" silver containing solders. ? That will help prevent later failure, and also has

Re: collections in the USA to do with HP
Paul. I can personally recommend a visit to the Wright-Patterson Air force museum, near Dayton. OK, so not HP specific, but you'll easily get lost in there for a day....

Re: LIF format version 0 vs. version 1
Indeed, the same problem applies to hpdir and real floppies. A LIF image written to a floppy formatted with the wrong sector size won't work.

Re: LIF format version 0 vs. version 1
OK. Thanks! Reason I asked is that there are so many different instruments out there and all have their quirks. I have been fiddling with the details of floppy emulation lately. Namely the sector

Maybe a metal plug/cover like: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Keystone-Electronics/7601?qs=811De8TLL%252BcmpinHLAyT9g%3D%3D Not as invisible as some of the offered solutions, but still markedly

Re: HP 8350B sweeper power entry module
Sorry for the late reply to this thread. The reason I asked is that the part in the 5351A and the 8350B are both listed as HP 0960-0443 but as Jim pointed out the F2058 & F2058D - I would assume that

Really many thanks, George. I am really ignorant about switching power supplies and I never repaired one. So, with the board alone and pulled out from the assy, if I inject 9Vdc -or other low voltage-

Re: LIF format version 0 vs. version 1
"record program disc" is a function of 8510 "monitor" program, not the main operating system. monitor can handle LIF disks only, i.e. you cant backup program (operating system) to DOS disk

Today I spent some more time on it. First attempt was to remove the hybrid, its pogo pin socket and clean all conact surfaces. So the hybrid gold plated contacts, the gold plated PCB contacts and both

Re: HP 200C restoration
Find someone with a dye-sublimation printer that can print on treated aluminum that can make the label.? The printers and thin treated aluminum are common enough that consumables are an Amazon item.

Re: HP 200C restoration
Treat them like a museum curator would and tell the restorator to fill the holes with a similar color without changing the original finish that remains at all. The "restorator", you, can put tape on

Re: LIF format version 0 vs. version 1
Indeed no. The 8510C system can format floppies in DOS format and apparently read and write them. But once the system is dead only the basic firmware is active and that can only handle LIF format
