Re: HP-8753E S11 Intermittent Results - Switch or Bridge?
If you plan on using and maintaining your 8753 than I strongly recommend for you to get you a powermeter and sensor , 4418A/B (E441A) have gotten fairly cheap ($200-300 but sometimes you can catch one

Re: Low EMI lighting for labs and work areas
Why would it matter if incandescent bulbs were operated on AC or DC? As for a source of bulbs, how about multiple bulbs normally used for automobile signals and markers? They tend to be more efficient

Even if the lights on your bench don't cause interference, how about the myriad other devices in a typical home and neighborhood? I spent a weekend with a friend in a nice mountain camp that was lit

Re: HP-8753E S11 Intermittent Results - Switch or Bridge?
Lothar: That was a good warning!? Yes my A5 Sampler is a part number 5087-7001. My donor unit only has P/N 5087-7000. The donor unit was an OPT11, which may explain the difference in Samplers. I

Re: HP-8753E S11 Intermittent Results - Switch or Bridge?
A few comments on this , I have hardly ever seen any issues with the signal processing past the sampler , as far as changing the sampler keep in mind that the R and A,B channels use a different part

Re: HP-8753E S11 Intermittent Results - Switch or Bridge?
the ESD diodes wouldn¡¯t go bad due to excess power , consider a few things here first of those diodes are high impedance not 50ohm they are in essence Zener diodes as a result they dont dissipate a

Re: HP-8753E S11 Intermittent Results - Switch or Bridge?
I checked all the cables around A5 which is the Sampler attached to Port 1. These all look good physically. I am unable to change the response by moving them or shaking them. Next, I will remove the

Re: HP-8753E S11 Intermittent Results - Switch or Bridge?
Hi John: That is good information. That may be an alternative later. I am evaluating circuits where I need about 100dB of dynamic range. As such, I think its important to avoid this modification if at

Re: Low EMI lighting for labs and work areas
Greetings, Jumping in late here. Curious - why not use a linear (not switching) regulated DC power supply to drive incandescent lamps? Then, if you so desired, you could even have dimmer control.

Ozan said about checking the PPL2 unlock indicator on A10A6 naming HUL2 as the test point which should be at zero volts for normal operation. However, the service manual only refers to TP1 in this

Even lower emission. Battery and filament bulb.?? Heck, AC Line filament bulbs may still be available in some territories, for "special purposes". The downside is heat output, and electrical power

You have to be very cautious about doing this , the problem with this approach is that the switches are no longer protected from ESD

Re: 5370A ERR 7.5
FYI, the board is pretty simple, and I think John Seamons has the CAD files on his github. If so, you could make your own for about $40 plus the beaglebone. -Chuck Harris wrote:

Re: HP-8753E S11 Intermittent Results - Switch or Bridge?
I had some success in repairing the switches on a couple of 6GHz 8753D's that I bought in known "parts" condition.? In both cases, an ESD protection diode in the switch had gone short circuit,
