Greg, I have some files for my specific Panasonic FM generator?model (owner manual and schematic), but I can't find one for yours in places I'm aware of. But I am seeing this:?, and I wonder if maybe they'd have the service manual. They're very specific on advertising what they can service. I'd give them a call?...? Hope you'll find it, ultimately.? Re: HP instruments with stereo FM composite signal output capability + HP8904A Option 001 question
I have a Panasonic VP-7633P Multiplex Stereo Modulator that had been giving good service but started to produce some errant behavior. Unfortunately there is no service or operation documentation available for this unit and Panasonic even denies its existence. |
Searching for clean, readable schematic - HP5316B Late version
I own a late version HP5316B that I am working on.? This is the version with the long, single PCB which I believe to be the last rev.. I have downloaded the HP5316B counter service manual from Keysight/Agilent but the scanned main counter board.schematic is very poor. ? Does anyone have a cleaner copy to share? Thanks Jim |

FS: 7239 vacuum tubes used in HP 851/8551 A/B spectrum analyzer, HP 693B sweep gen
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello-- I? rounded up another batch of boxed NOS GE-branded 7239 vacuum tubes. These are used in the? HP 851/8551 A/B spectrum analyzer and the HP 693B? 4-8 GHz sweep generator. Picture a 12AX7 nine-pin stubby miniature tube (e.g., a 12AX7) with a plate cap instead of an exhaust tip... ...Cute as a bug's ear, huh?? Suitably displayed, a? pair in push-pull could make an eyecatching audio amplifier. I'm asking $25.00 per pair (two tubes)? plus USPS postage. Please note that while? these are NOS and inspected for shiny getter patches, they're not otherwise tested or guaranteed. Questions welcomed, PayPal honored. Thanks and 73-- Brad? AA1IP

Re: 8516A cable question

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI got the testset in yesterday and popped the lid , only 4 pins are connected and the PIN numbers match the PIN numbers of the connector on the 8341B that are referenced in the service manual so it appears that you are correct and the cable is wired 1:1 , i ordered a 3ft DB25 m-m cable on Amazon to see if it will work ok , i got a 8340B that i just sold that has the correct FW and serial number range so i can try the testset , if it works i update the 8341B i have , looking at the manual backdating only the CPU and marker board changed and both can be found on ebay so updating should be pretty straightforward? On Feb 23, 2022, at 09:25, gk5220 via groups.io <gk5220@...> wrote:

HP 82901M Dual Floppy Disk Drive - servicing advice
Hi all,
I¡¯ve had an HP 82901M dual floppy disk drive in storage for a couple of years but never used. I got it as a bundle with my HP85. It has been kept dry although it gets cool in the garage at times. I¡¯m finally getting around to using it - but it wanted to get some advice before turning it on - in case there are any gotchas. Is there anything, such as checking the heads, that is best done before turning it on? I don¡¯t want to trash it if there any avoidable errors in getting a long dormant unit working again. thanks Tony |
Re: HP instruments with stereo FM composite signal output capability + HP8904A Option 001 question
I already have an FM Generator with stereo FM capability (a Panasonic VP-8174A). I was just looking for specific composite signal output including stereo?ingredients. I actually just grabbed the one with the options listed on the back after a bit of back and forth on the price. With HP instruments, I tend to trust they're in perfect operating condition, particularly as that one seems to show confirmed level/frequency by another instrument.? Still interested in learning about others. Calibrated output (level, frequency, signal components, etc.) is a big plus for me. Thank you for your input!? Radu.? Re: HP instruments with stereo FM composite signal output capability + HP8904A Option 001 question
A simple way is to pick up a used broadcast audio processor that has composite output and feed it into a signal generator of your choice providing it can handle a 50 kHz bandwidth input. ? I have a little Inovonics David III processor that works wonderfully with several of the lab generators.? Although it is a little later model unit and still draws a considerable price in used condition I have seen old CRL units out there from time to time that can be had for a song.? All of them contain provisions to adjust audio gain and pilot level. ? Greg |
Re: HP instruments with stereo FM composite signal output capability + HP8904A Option 001 question
Are you looking only for a baseband generator or are you also considering RF generators with stereo FM capability?
Options are usually listed on a tag on the back of the instrument like this one on an 8904A ebay listing: |

Re: Selling experience, sorry OT again
I still have not received my money several weeks after my sale was delivered and positive FB given.
The explanation was there was a mixup with zip codes and I should see the money soon. That's what they told me today and a week ago.? I asked about the real 19.3% they took and was told that they only take 12% but it is of the total including shipping because some people were inflating the shipping to avoid Ebay fees (my shipping fees are calculated by Ebay from the box size and weight I provide). According to their math 12% of 135.97 is 16.79. I guess my HP48 calculator is wrong. The $2.23 tax is on their total fees but my calculator gets $2.2217, very creative math. I already paid tax on the shipping so they are taxing me again on about $7 (the difference between 12% and 19.32%) HP boxes are heavy so selling my HP8555A for $20 with $70 shipping is going to take about $10.80 or 54% of my sale. So much for their 12% they claim. I am writing this to warn anyone thinking of selling heavy HP test equipment on Ebay to understand the charges.? The bottom line is that the Ebay charges will be greater than 12.35% up to 99%. I may be wrong bu I don't think so.? test-equip-trader is not really the answer because it is a mailing list and you cannot take down advertising after a sale. Besides people complain if you keep posting pictures. What you see below is hidden unless you click on the right spot to display it. The sale was $100, the $35.97 was the shipping. |

I recently received a HP 5335A universal counter. It does not have option 10 (high stability option) installed. I have a HP 10544A I would like to install but the service / owners manual I have does not give clear instructions on how to do this. Page 2-5 explains the installation but does not have a clear explanation on what the "electrical jumper" is. The only "jumper" is a pair of twisted black and yellow wires on the bottom of the board. I disconnected these wires but the counter was still not using the HP 10544A. Am I missing something? I do have a HP 10811A but the manual states you can use either one. Craig, |
Re: Installing a HP 10544A into a HP 5335A
Thanks for the clarification. All I removed (cut) was the "jumper" as stated in the service manual. I left the crystal on the board, looks like you need to remove the face plate to get decent access. Thanks guys, I can always count on this group!
Best Regards, Craig Petersen. |
