I got the testset in yesterday and popped the lid , only 4 pins are connected and the PIN numbers match the PIN numbers of the connector on the 8341B that are referenced in the service manual so it appears that you are correct and the cable is wired 1:1 , i
ordered a 3ft DB25 m-m cable on Amazon to see if it will work ok , i got a 8340B that i just sold that has the correct FW and serial number range so i can try the testset , if it works i update the 8341B i have , looking at the manual backdating only the CPU
and marker board changed and both can be found on ebay so updating should be pretty straightforward?

?Lothar,
It probably is wired straight through. This is the situation with the serial cable on the 89441A Vector Signal Analyzer System. In that case it's a DB9 connector and is wired straight through even though the chassis/module is labeled as serial. A standard DB9
RS232 cable will not work. It confusing, but almost all HP cables are wired straight through. There are a few exceptions and some weird ones such as the MSIB cables for the 70000 instruments. Just make sure that there are no power pins from either instrument
that might damage the PAL if connected incorrectly. -George
