Re: HP8903B - Plotting from HP-IB
Hello everyone,
I finally got the HP8903B and it works perfectly. I tried to connect the Prologix interface to the HP-IB connector of the HP8903B and to the PC where I installed some programs for dialogue on the HP-IB bus. One of the programs works perfectly, but those of Pete Millett that interested me the most, when I press Start the following error window comes out: Attempted action not supported Error number: 313 In transaction number 1 Object title: Audio Analyzer (@ 714) Object type: Direct I / O I don't know how to correct this error. Can you help me, thanks. -- Cheers ??? Attilio |
Re: HP 8970B calibration / account for loss during calibration
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAre you measuring 50 or 75 ohm devices?? ? If 50 ohm devices, then the pad has to go on the output of the noise source, which affects the ENR of the source¡¯s input to the DUT, and needs to be accounted for in the ENR table. If you are using a nominal 5 dB source, that gets the ENR down close to zero, which, for high gain, low noise devices, is actually a good thing so long as it doesn¡¯t go negative. With a 15 dB ENR source, no problem but the table still needs to be corrected for the pad. ? If you are measuring 75 ohm devices, then the pad will go on the input to the NF meter, and the cal will take care of it. ? SF34 is there, as you said, to correct for things that were not present during the cal process. This is always an approximation so best avoided if you can as it increases the measurement uncertainty, which is going to be around .2 dB at best. ? Is it possible to account for a loss between HP8970B and the noise source during calibration? I.e. to have the same loss during calibration and during the measurement. Well at least the problem is big and bold. When just beam fid works it will be any of the following. Blanking Z is cutoff for some reason. X or Y or both are totally unbalanced. Typically some sort of supply failure if you find the delection all the way to one side. But if just x or y then most likely a transistor in that deflection circuit. Generally reasonable to find. Good luck Paul WB8TSL |

PayPal fees for FX are incredibly high, 3..5% worst foreign currency exchange rate, plus fees, etc.
You always have the option to dump epay all together and simply sell on your own website, our firm has done so since 1995, and never sell on epay. For epay, What about payment via bank transfer? Physical paper bank check? Still.aloowed? Jon |
