Re: Looking for small fiber washers
I hadn't seen that business before. Interesting; however, they don't stock washers (at least that's what the website states).

开云体育I just got an email from BOKERS yesterday, they have almost anything you could ever want. -------- Original message --------

The RANGE switch was a Centralab model with steatite wafers and someone had broken the wafers - some of which were in pieces that made gluing them back together somewhat impractical.? I have obtained glass-epoxy versions of those wafers and am reassembling the switch; however, the original damage was enough to destroy one of the tiny fiber washers that are used on the mounting strut assemblies. Does anyone know where I could get one (or, maybe, a few) of those?? I've searched the web and can't find them and the Electroswitch site (they bought Centralab) doesn't show them as available parts either.? If you're familiar with them, they accommodate a #4 machine screw on the ID but the OD is very small as well and all I can find are "standard" #4 fiber washers which are too large. I think these also are/were available in plastic or nylon and if there's a source for those, they would work as well. Sorry for the long email for such a small request but I don't know anywhere else to look for these. Thanks, Barry - N4BUQ |

I had looked there before and didn't find any whose OD was small enough; however I just looked again and they do have some fiberglass washers with an OD of 0.219" which might just be small enough. Thanks for the reply and a prompt for me to look again! Barry - N4BUQ ----- Original Message -----

So you've verified from the mail headers that it came fromThe phishing mail arrived via email as any "private" response to a topic would have been. So an email to have not only the rogue message but also to include my own previous post to the topic, the groups footer, etc, seems to clearly indicate that the message was sent directly from within the group, again by using the private reply function (the button to the extreme right side on the reply interface). It would be very unlikely that a random message was just sent to my email address from another email server outside of the group, and still contain all that information about the topic it is replying to. I still have all the received rogue emails, I can forward directly if you like to take a look at content, headers, etc. Problem is that nowadays most of that info can easily be obfuscated or spoofed, so I don't usually pay too much attention to those. My profile is set to receive a daily summary. Much easier to digest and I only visit the topics of interest from the links in the digest. Having to individually deal with each and every email arriving around the clock with each regular posting in the group would at least for me quickly get too much too deal with efficiently, even the way I automatically filter and organize my inbox into separate folders by relevance. Anyhow, at least on my end things seem to have quiet down, so for now will continue as-is without changing my email address. Thanks anyway for offering to expedite resubscribing me if changing it would have been necessary. |
Re: PSU Problems HP 8591A
开云体育I have two 8590B SAs and both had the same PSU fault.? The Power LEDs were illuminated and the voltages (as read by a DMM) were OK, but perhaps a bit on the low end of the tolerance band.? When examined with a 'scope, all had 100Hz ripple (I am in the UK).? This suggested the main PSU reservoir capacitors were faulty, and yes, in each SA one of the pair was open circuit. ? I don't know if the PSU in an 8591A is the same, but it's worth checking.? IIRC, the faulty capacitor in each SA had a 'domed' top. ? Replacing the pair in each SA cured the fault in both. ? Good luck! ? 73, Mike, Mike Stevens, G8CUL/M0CUL/F4VRB. ? From: [email protected] On Behalf Of Kuba Ober

When they don’t, usually the whole thing equally doesn’t work since the outermost control loop has been broken. So nothing inside will have any signatures that would help much. So I think it’s just lore. These supplies don’t have large digits sections with signatures to begin with. Signature analyzers of that era worked on TTL inputs. They could help if you were fixing an Alto supply maybe, but for HP instruments - I highly doubt that. ? Cheers, Kuba

Nice description. You obviously you how these beasts work. ?For the novice, switchers are really hard to repair due to several control loops that are involved. ?Years ago, I read some techs were using HP signature analyzers to quickly diagnose switchers by using known signature points from a working model of the supply being repaired. ?Not sure if that method really works.
