A12 maybe have damaged according to my test ?.?
Tonight below test items have been finished:

1. The voltage on A1 test connector can meet manual value .?
2. The value of powers ?input to A12 are all correct .?
3. Some Diagnostics have been implemented . But no failure .

There are only 2 test have ?not been finished , LO and IF signals test , because my SMB to SMA connector not on hand .But i think the result will be bad .

And i start to look for the sampler , so does anyone have the information about HP5350B A12 module for sale ??

I am reading service manual now . And one 26.5Ghz spectrum analyzer and one 500Mhz oscillascope are on my hand .?
So i think i will check the power ,signal ?according to the manual step by step .

Hi Samba,

Do you have the service manual?
Have you read the trouble shooting section?
Please be careful around the sampler, as it is a sensitive device.
I would follow the trouble shooting, and first check the DC voltages for voltage within the required range, and also check for ripple.

Next would be to check the LO signal. Notice this is around 14dBm, so use attenuators.
What test equipment do you have? (spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope with 500MHz band with, frequency counter, power meter and so on.)

Suppose I have an application that is picky and has a list of various supported signal generators. Are there anything that¡¯s strictly compatible, with a subset or superset of commands I might be able to use?

it¡¯s a little awkward because it¡¯s 1-20GHz which isn¡¯t a problem for my needs.

THANKS - It is simply uncalled for. And YES some of the Chinese connectors are of poor quality - but part of the reason is that people insist on low prices. The Chinese do make some excellent quality machine tools.

I DO NOT SEE THE NEED FOR THE USE OF DIVISIVE NAME CALLING. It s OK (IMO) to call out CHINESE connectors of poor quality, it is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE IN THIS FORUM TO USE THAT TERM.

unless you do some very critical work and need to see 50dB of matching... :)
I'd say it will not matter in practical terms. I have never "seen" the transition in normal work?

And never directly mate SMA and 2.92. The tolerances of SMA are so high, it might damage the 2.92 (esp. female).

There is a paper on this topic, which also discusses SMA. The conclusion on SMA is that there¡¯s too much variability on SMA to make any correction worthwhile. A google search of SMA/2.92 mm might get the paper. It should generate a lot less hits than 3.5 mm SMA

One thing I should also mention is the IF out connection on the rear of your 8593 should be terminated to 50 ohms when not being used. I noted on mine I would get level errors if it was left floating.

What I would like to know:
What is the electrical impact of doing so?

Background:
I had the chance to measure some 3,5mm DUTs on a PNA-X up to 34GHz. But there was only a 2.92mm cal kit available.

hello Jeremy, well ok for your answer I will still look on my side if I find the manual for the installation of option 009-010 for the hp 8593e and yes well ok for the installation of the mechanics which is quite strenuous but you have to take the time.

I think if the list is going to be monitized; then that should benefit the list.?
One could argue that the members proposal does benefit the list; but, that's an argument I haven't seen.
