HP PN 1855-0418 Part Identification Help

Hello,

I need to replace a dual monolithic N-FET transistor on HP 8903B, the HP code for the part is 1855-0418. Can anyone help identify this part so I can source a replacement?

Thank you!

Regards,
Bernardo.

Advice for a new to me Spectrum Analyzer

I have a new to me HP 4411B spectrum analyzer and I am wondering about options and software for the unit. It is currently fully working and no faults are detected with it so that is good. It does have the tracking generator with it so that was the big think I was looking for but I was also wondering about what options could be added to it now. or is ti set in stone for options?

Most people can't 3d print metal :-)

Calvin,
If no one in the USA can give you one, I can put a contact in the post if you PM me your address.

Re: General opinion on 180 series scopes?

Currently eBay is showing 1804a 4 channel plugins for around $20-50. The 1804 does 4 channels but no math. The 2 channel units have addition and the specs say when one Chanel is inverted it acts like a differential input instrument! The 1821 dual time base is spectacular. It can be set up to have a variable width time delayed window within the display which is higher intensity on the screen and thus can magnify a signal within the signal. Also, a trigger can be set within that segment and a separate external trigger can be use for the main and the delayed segment. This gets you behavior like on a digital storage scope. Imaging the ability to trigger on certain glitches during the delay time. I used to use it to pluck out separate scan lines in an NTSC composite signal. Set up a separate circuit to count pulses in the signal and feed the counter output into the secondary trigger and you could pick the scan line. This is very flexible triggering. ?Fun to use scope. I just picked up a 4 channel plug in and now have a 4 channel analog scope. ?Screen display is rock solid when you get the trigger set up. The scope is intuitive to use. Schematics available. I think it is a great beginner scope if working. It is easy to repair with all discreet components. It has a cool feature of a signal delay line so you can see a bit of the signal before the trigger fires.

In case you go looking for a key switch parts donor, a (broken) HP 3437A would be a very good (and undervalued) candidate. They are offered regularly at acceptable prices and the Bill West keys in them are not heat-staked to the PCB but only held by a screw-attached bracket, so very convenient for use as replacement parts.

Re: How to fix broken HP key

Before you go gluing stuff together, let me tell you, do NOT use glue.
Figure out what plastic is being used, and use a PLASTIC WELDING
COMPOUND. It consists of a solvent (which quickly evaporates) that
softens the plastic, possibly some plastic stock dissolved in it, and
some surface preparation chemicals. Every plastic has a different
plastic welding compound. In the end you're working with something
that has the consistency of putty. If you get those tiny metal
spatulas, like used for ceramics and pottery, they are perfect for
shaping that stuff. You can easily rebuild the missing plastic part
this way. You can also get a piece of the same plastic that's the same
shape as the missing "finger", and use that as part of the
reconstruction.

You can go to settings/camera/format and change to compatible and it will save in jpg/h264 format instead except for things like 60fps video. Details are there in the settings.

Re: 8566B Option 002 Turbo (Firmware revision 12.4.91)

BTW -- I won't be able to pull the Turbo info from my unit. In replacing the CRT I am only working on the 85662 IF/display unit and not digging into the RF section where the processor card apparently lives.

Re: E4407B restoration project: EEPROMs

Hi Alex,

Were you able to regenerate the YTF alignment/correction data?? I am in the need to do the same for my ESA where the YTF needs to to re-adjusted.? Did you find out the format of the values stored for that on the freq. extension board, and the best way to regenerate the correct values?

This is a HP5343A 26.5 Ghz counter. I got it from ebay as non-working unit, as CPU won't reset. I took it apart and fixed it.?

I didn't see the missing piece while I was working on it. Now I know what the finger piece looks like. I will take it apart again and try to find the missing piece...

Hi Daun,

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm in Orange County, California. I will search the message.?

14:46 at the video shows the missing finger piece that I supposed to have. Looks like I will look for some parts unit from eBay.

Hi group,

I have a HP5343A frequency counter with a broken "5" key. It's just like a typical key on any HP 80s instrument. Please see attached pictures.

It looks like it's missing a metal piece that would make contact to the keypad on the PCB. I can't find a replacement key. I think I can glue it back on but how would I fix the contact? I can't find replacement part for it.?

Any idea how to fix it?

Calvin

I just met the same issue - it seems to be an Apple invented image format - like the world needs yet another? - that allows extra data to be embedded in the file and a Windows 10 download will 'enhance' the Windows photo app to allow it to be opened, err....no thanks! Sending images as png or jpeg would be better?
