I just met the same issue - it seems to be an Apple invented image
format - like the world needs yet another? - that allows extra data
to be embedded in the file and a Windows 10 download will 'enhance'
the Windows photo app to allow it to be opened, err....no thanks!
Sending images as png or jpeg would be better?
