Re: HP 70590A Information wanted part of HP 70000 / MMS
Hi I have spoken to the UK supplier I am due to visit him this week but I don¡¯t think he believed me when I told him I had only found 7 independent users of HP 70000 equipment in the UK and that a

Re: HP 70590A Information wanted part of HP 70000 / MMS
Does anyone still use MATE? I worked on a runner up to that program a long while ago... ("our" proposal wasn't accepted).... Did some 488 bus programming using a TMS9914 controller run by an 8088.

Re: HP 70590A Information wanted part of HP 70000 / MMS
Hi Paul, "The HP 70590A Options H69 and H72 TMAs (Test Module Adapters) are MATE modules for HP 70000 Series spectrum analyzers. The modules translate CIIL (control intermediate interface language)

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
I think the cal signal on that unit is built into the unit. You do not have to connect an external cable to calibrate. Please check the manual.

George, I am looking forward to your video on the design of a modern DMM. ?Do you possibly have an update? Cheers, David

Re: HP 85044-60001 attenuator - sluggish rotation and imprecise detents
The lack of detent and friction are not related to o-rings. Take off the end-cap (4 socket screws). This will allow you to slide off the u-shaped cover. You will see a camshaft held by two bushings

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Is the 4401 really that different from the '02, '03, etc? Have never looked at an '01.

Re: HP 5315A modding
Hi Wolfgang, I don't have an HP 5315A, but in my HP 5328A the power switch is wired this way because they want to keep the oscillator running always that the counter is plugged into the mains. This is

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Ok, still I am a bit skeptical that there is an LO problem, The second LO is generated from 800MHz phased locked reference, so I imagine there must be some sort of error message if the LO or the REF

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
Yes, that is at 0dB attenuation, and a +10dBm input signal. It does change with the attenuator setting ¨C it goes down into the noise as I add attenuation. Sadly, there are no connectors in the chain

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
is that for 0dB attenuator setting? the level should change with attenuator setting. still it doenst necessarily mean you dont have the second LO but it could be one reason for very low IF output is

HP 85044-60001 attenuator - sluggish rotation and imprecise detents
Have an HP 85044-60001 0-70 dB step 10 dB, 4 GHz attenuator (part of 85044A test set). Rotation is more difficult (more torque) than normal, detents are imprecise/mushy (have to hunt a little to get

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
You raise a valid point. On that point, I decided to double check the magnitude of the 21.4MHz IF signal coming out of A8J3. It is present, but is around -67 dBm ¨C far lower than it should be.

Re: E4401B No 50MHZ Cal signal
if you have the second IF out put at correct amplitude the of course your second LO is fine so the only culprits is either the divider chip (800 / 16) or the solid state switch that injects the 50MH
