Re: Replace Neon NE-2 with Zener in 141T PSU?
Hi Dave,
In theory, ~18x 4.5v zeners would provide the lowest drift reference for a pure-zener design. However, a single 82v zener has a tempo of around 0.073%. Compared to the 0.004% of the original reference bulb this is pathetic, however, looking at the dozens of carbon resistors, dried out caps, and of course the?potentiometer that sets the gain (and remember, new pots are generally not better than 100 PPM unless they are very expensive), I think the drift and tempo from a single zener will be the least of this circuit's problems!? Thanks all for your input! --E W6EL ? |

Re: USB Power Probe Calibration software
1.) There are some commercial Power Sensor Calibration packages out there that support the USB Sensors ( PS/CAL, Surecal)? but those are very expensive ??? i am not aware of any free software that allows for a user to access/edit the calibration factors 2.) There are commands on the E Series Power sensors that allow access to the Sensor EEPROM but i am not sure if this is the case for the USB Sensors as well ??? you can try DIAG:SENS:EEPROM ? X with X being the number of bytes to read and see if you get a reading but even if you do than it will take quite a bit of work ? ? to figure out the calibration factors 3.) if your sensor readings are "way off "? than it is very likely that your sensor is damaged ,? try readings at different power levels (+10, -10, -20, -40dBm and see if they are all off by the same magnitude ,? wide dynamic range sensors have two diode detectors and a range switch , depending on the power level either the high or the low range detector is used ,? if only one range is off than this is a indication that one of the detectors is faulty , if both are than you either have a damaged attenuator ( on the H Series sensors ) or a corrupted EEPROM ! ? Does anyone know about the (probable) software that can read (and write) the calibration data to these probes? Is a "secret' option in one of the packages I have? If not, how can I get it? 8757C mother board
I am in need of a 08757-60066 mother board for a 8757C.
The 8757C that I bought cheap had a CPU battery leak and has made a mess of the motherboard. Before I remove, clean and rebuild the traces on this damaged mother board, I though That I would ask the community if one is available from a scrapped unit. Appreciate any help. Re: Replace Neon NE-2 with Zener in 141T PSU?
Replacing the ZZ1000 - My Summary.
A high-voltage zener will add a lot of drift. It's a hassle to ovenize it. Nine 9V zeners is better but still pretty bad. To meet spec you have to use what HP used, the 1N938, a special temperature-compensated part which costs over $10 each today. That's too expensive. It's a hassle to rework the board to use a single 1N938 the way HP did. Ed Breya's TL431 suggestion is the only one that's cheap, easy, and pretty good. That's a TL431 plus a 65-75V zener. 150k and 4.7k in the divider gets you 82V. No other changes needed. That's how I see it. Dave Wise |

From memory I used an 8.2K 1 watt resistor as that is what I had on hand. Also placed 68V and 14V zeners in series to make the necessary 82V level and again this is what was in junk box. Hope that helps. Cheers and 73's Arie VK3DBF -------------------------------------------- On Fri, 14/7/17, w7qed@... [hp_agilent_equipment] <hp_agilent_equipment@...> wrote:

My HP 4050N with Duplex option got erratic so, after some research, got an HP LaserJet Pro M501DN (with Duplex and Networking). After some problems that were fixed by upgrading the printer firmware (I bought it new) and upgrading the drivers, it's very much like the 4050. PS the problem was poor seating of the LAN card in the 4045. Removing it and reinstalling fixed the problem. -- Have Fun, Brooke Clarke -------- Original Message --------

Depends on whether it's been rehabbed. Think the fuser is rated for 60k. Service manual shows intervals. Most well made things run for a long, long time if the prescribed preventative maintenance is done. The bay shows many units for sale with 200k+. Starting at $200. Think I paid 75$ for a complete consumables kit minus the fuser. (rollers, gears, pads, etc.) Takes 45 minutes to do. (took me an hour prep time to make sure I knew what to do.) Asymmetric trace "dot" on Hp 141-T display section
Hi All, On my recently acquired HP-141T,?8554B and 8552B plugins, I noticed that the trace has a sort of vertical thickness to it, as though someone is drawing the traces using a calligraphy pin oriented vertically. Horizontally, the trace is very sharp. Adjusting the focus makes it possible to bring the "dot" to a symmetric and round but fuzzier shape. I am using the "manual sweep" mode to judge the shape of the dot. The total height of the dot, vertically, is probably 4 or 5 mm.? I then connected a tek 475 scope to the Vertical and Scan outputs. With the scope in XY mode, the trace is super crisp and does not have a vertical elongation to it. I think this test exonerates the plugins from causing the issue, but leaves the display section in question. Thanks for any insights you may have,? --Elliott W6EL ? |
