Re: 5383a counter-Need 7seg decoder IC (HP 1820-0914)
The 7448 is "likely" to work fine, given the circuit you showed in the first post. Install a socket, and try it. Worst case, you have to plug something else in. Pete

DB, My last message was rather haphazardly written and didn¡¯t include as much information as I had intended. It was after midnight and I was trying to get some sleep before a 5:00 rise. Looking at

Re: 54717A Calibrator
An EEPROM dump would be a great asset, saving much grief in people that lost the 54720 mainframe calibration due to a stinkin' dead battery. The 54717 "calibrator" hardware is just a brain dead pair

Re: 8560E Second Converter
Hi Dave, I once fixed a 5086-7812 second converter with a 5021-8661 board. The only problem on this, was cracked solder joints on the feed through capacitors on the board. So I did not have to open

Re: HP detector
Is this supposedly a "stock" HP diode or do you suspect it has been repaired B4 with something link a 1n34 or 1n914? Also, is there any kind of DC block in the system (that disk could be a capacitor.

Dave, Interesting... Very simple. Were you able to easily find a replacement for that diode? Does it look like it will be difficult to reassemble properly? (I am thinking in its simplicity,
