HP 6012B volt zero and current regulation
Hello, I had a account from yahoo groups agilent and I recently transferred over.
I have a HP 6012B which I successfully repaired the current potentiometer so no more issue with the supply going full 60 amps with the slightest turn of the knob. However I have some minor calibration issues if anyone could assist. I notice the volts on the display will not go below 0.2-0.1 volts at the full counter clockwise position, it also reads the same on the voltmeter. I am studying the manual to see where those adjustments are. Also, when I test the amperage control by using a light bulb and a voltmeter in parallel to measure the current, if I set the current to 4 amps and quickly ramp the voltage the current peaks at 5 amps briefly before going back down to 4 amps a fraction of a second later. I have access to an HP8656A 0 - 999MHz signal Generator which has not been used for some time, it seems to power up all buttons function ok but there is no output on the front N Type or the BNC output on the rear panel. I have done the manual reset for Reverse Power Protection, still no output. On the rear there listed are some? HP - IB commands ? RO? RF OFF State, ? RI? RF ON State,?? RP? Reset Reverse Power Protection. Is it possible that the last user ha d used the RO command and turned off the output, after several months would this command still be valid? any means of checking if this has happened? if so can it turned on without having access to HP-IB?? or do I have a more fundamental problem?? I have spent a considerable amount of time on the internet but no solution, also been trying to find an HP user group but no luck. Any help/advise gratefully appreciated.

At the minute, NOTHING has been copied from the HP/Agilent Yahoo group. All 95 member on /g/HP-Agilent-Keysight-equipment have subscribed themselves. Around 2 members are subscribing each hour now. I am in the position to start copying almost everything, including the email addresses of account holders, and all the data. I have NOT started this yet, for a good reason. Sometime between 21:00 GMT today (Sunday), and 09:00 GMT tomorrow (Monday) I will 1) Bounce all messages from here - nobody will be able to post. 2) Start the copy from Yahoo to The copy process can take a week or more, and may not be 100% complete. During this time, accounts and posts will be slowly copied by , as Yahoo block any attempts to make massive downloads of data. During this time, your account may or may not be on . That will guarantee your account exists. But otherwise, it should hopefully be copied over during the next week or so. If you create your account? yourself, when the copy comes, your account will not be copied. By not commencing the copy immediately, it should allow the Yahoo messages to be completed, and a "clean" copy made. If the copy was started immediately, some messages that are held up in the system might never get to . Where does one got looking for new feet for the back of a 8672A? I just unwrapped my recent eBay purchase and its missing 2 of them. Reliability of FieldFox portable VNAs, SAs and combination analyzers

Some years ago I bought a CertiPrime N9923A from Agilent. It developed a hardware fault within a month or so. A week or so ago I was talking to a customer of mine, who said he had heard reports from several sources about poor reliability of FieldFox instrumentsSometime later, someone I know bought an N9912A combination analyzer. I checked that for him. The performance was poor as a VNA, (dynamic range is typically 49 dB at 5-6 GHz), but I understand the N9912A is only for basic measurements. But the instrument worked okay. Then, despite me knowing that the N9912A is not a good VNA, I got the chance to pick one up cheap and bought it. That was dead on arrival. I'm just wondering if others have experienced this problem. I guess it is going to be hard to get any hard facts about this, as I doubt Keysight will be publishing MTBF data. Having handled a couple of N9912As (SA+VNA), and one N9923A (VNA), I'm impressed with the build quality. But now I am starting to wonder how relieable these instruments are. If you have a drill press, you can chuck a threaded screw and drill the tap hole for 4-40 by feeding the quill onto a drill bit held stationary in a chuck.? I used this technique to salvage an $85 air valve on a Toyota Tercel.
I'd broken a plastic teet off taking it off.? So I drilled the proper size hole in a length of a #10-24 screw, shaped the end with a file in the drill press, took it out.? I don't recall now if I used a tap or? cut a groove? to tap the plastic and.? I put epoxy on the threads and screwed it.? It worked like a charm. The principle here is that a rotating workpiece will cause the drill to follow the center of rotation.? You can see the setup I used here: It didn't aign as well as needed for the differential screw, but for your purpose it would be fine. |
