well. This is very strange, all of it.
When your unit locks up, do the LEDs keep marching? Just powered on mine again, and he is a happy camper.
IMHO, one of us needs to look at the schematics of the power supply card and find out what can halt the CPU startup. I would do it, but am already going to bed for today. Someone at eevblog mentioned a 5V lockout circuit, which could also malfunction of course.
Also, let us start with the basics. Was the power supply recapped?

I will try to replace the NVRAM when same issue comes back.
but don't expect too much on it because my 53310A restores last panel settings at powering up.
