Hi Morris,
If you get the 8601A you might like to start looking for a 8600A to go
with it. The 8600A is a marker generator/counter that puts up to 5
little intensified dots on the sweep trace at continuously variable
frequencies. The older models use nixie displays and the more modern
ones have 7 segment LEDs.
Sweeping is a real pleasure with that combo.
Well, I should say that I already had a couple of 8601As _and_ an 8600A (LED version and in very good shape). BUT I have not yet used it; in fact, I put them in storage some weeks ago as, just for sweeping, I didn't find it was enough reason to keep them in the workbench. But now, once I get the 8407A, I will set it up along the 8601A and 8600A... that way I will have a decent VNA up to 110MHz, right?
Regards,
JOSE
