Hi all,
I recently aquired a 410C, after difficulties to calibrate the AC
Range properly (and a very hot Probe) I discovered a 2-01C tube in my
Multimeter - running on 6.2 Volts. Funny enough my 410C is the later
Dual-FET / OpAmp version ...
After messing around with resistors for the filament, I changed
the 6.2V Zener for a 5.1V on the supply board: Zero is nearly stable
now and the AC tracks almost linear ... but still not 100%
Btw: Can somebody be so kind and forward me the Balance/Gain
calibration procedure for the FET/OpAmp 410c ?
Cheers,
Andreas

SETTINGS FOR 50Hz LINE ? ...FIXED!!
I think that a 410B probe will work OK when connected to a 410C
Multimeter - the citcuit is similar in both units, with the meter side
being very high input resistance. As to altering the probe itself :
I`d want to check its calibration
with a levelled Signal Generator, over all the range of
frequencies. After all, the thing will measure AC Voltage from 50Hz to
over 500MHz - that`s seven decades! I haven`t got a 410B probe handy,
but my 410C probe has a special discoidal [?] decoupling capacitor in
the probe head, and H/P wouldn`t do this if it wasn`t necessary. Wheat
and Chaff.

Hi Chuck,
I recall hearing that some of the early 410C used the 2-01C as
in the 410B
and these run at 5v. Do you have any info on that? I also recall
that the
410C has no adjustment for the filament voltage while the 410B
did have this
adjustment. Since it seems there are more 410B HV probes
available than
410C, any easy way to adjust the 410C to use a 410B 2-01C probe?

There is no controversy here, all 410C's are 6VDC filament for the
12AT7, and 6.3V unregulated AC for the probe.
