You can do this, but the probe cal will?have errors. To do correctly, you would
need to mount the
scope probe housing, (which contains the compensation capacitor adjustment)?to
the back of the unit,
( to the original input) and extend?the?cable from this point to the front of
the unit.
Finding a connector that mates the probe housing would be the hardest part.

Since we're talking bout HP DSOs, a question:
My HP 16500C has a nice 100MHz scope card, but the inputs are on back.
Is there a safe and cheap way of extending this ports to front?
I thought of using RGC 50 ohms cable to a metal box on front with the
ch1/ch2/trigger/etc ports.
