Re: Mystery part

An 89 meg resistor, 1%tolerance, glass encased as you might expect for
stability reasons at those high megohm values-I think Victoreen are still in
business as part of Ohmite.

Subject: [hp_agilent_equipment] Mystery part

While dismantling a old, dead HP voltmeter for
parts to resurrect (I hope) it's sibling, I came
across a part I hadn't seen before.

It was a glass tube about 2-1/2" long and 3/8 inch
diameter, with a wire out each end. Inside the glass
was a cylindrical object with a spiral cut on it.
The glass tube was marked "Victoreen", "RX-3", 89 M,
"1%" and "U.S.A.".

What is it?

Sincrely,
