If you use methanol, please be extremely careful. Wear gloves, don't
inhale fumes, etc. Methanol poisoning is no joke. Read up on it
prior to use.

After lots of trials with several solvents over the years
I've found the best solvent for decayed PU foam is 99% methanol.
