When we saw that the full designation was 8670B - K29, that told me that the unit was an add on kit, likely a limited edition. It was certainly related to the 867xy (x=0-3, y=A-D) family of generators. Not necessarily mil related, but possible, also probable to boost the output amplitude above the +2dBm, +8dBm, or +13dBm specs, depending on the system configuration. ?When configured as an 8672S (8672A/B + 86720A) the 2-18GHz max amplitude drops from +8dBm to -2dBm.?
Here is what I found on the NTE website:
001 | Deletes RF Attenuator |
002 | Deletes Reference Oscillator |
003 | Operation at 50/60/400Hz line |
H29 | Includes options 001, 002, & 003; Unleveled power >+10 dBm throughout frequency range |
The K29 is almost certainly exactly equivalent to the H29 option. That is what I have seen during 28+ years of working for HP/Agilent. I would also guess that you could also reasonably expect the leveled output amplitude to make +9 or +10dBm over the entire frequency range.
