Don't forget it's not just about the power rating and cfm. Some of the older HP gear, especially RF gear, requires a certain static pressure from the fan in order to push air through the various areas.?

Even with the same rating and cfm it might not have enough 'push' to force air through the small holes in the various assembly's.

I think that contributes a lot to the noise.

That said I replaced the fan in my 8341b with a 135cfm model instead of 170cfm, and it's been OK.?
