Python is another possibility. If you have not used python before, you should find a lot of info online.? Even ChatGPT has gotten fairly good at writing python code, so if you give it a good description you will have a good starting point. It will probably not be able to make it perfect, but a good starting point for beginners.

I saw a thread about Matlab routines but not having an account
with Mathworks since I left the university and not wanting to try
either 30 days trials or 20 hours "online" a month, I am looking for
a lasting alternative.
