You are correct-this analyzer must have hardware option 119(noise fgure) for use with ?85719A.Its not difficult to transfer this program via gpib.

Regarding the expensive ram cards used for this analyzer series¡­just use the cards made for HP 48 calculators,much cheaper.

I'm pretty certain the analyser will use the Y factor method (not the gain method) so an external noise source (HP 346B?) and an external preamp is needed (HP 87405A would be good here as it can be powered from the front panel of the analyser).

Hopefully, the analyser has the 28V drive port at the rear and this is probably the internal hardware that is required for this option. If so it might be possible to clone an existing SW card and plug it in and it would all work. I'm not sure if it can be loaded via GPIB.
