Yves, you are fantastic !!!!!
I am on my mobile phone ( in the bed, since it is 00.00 AM), but I will try in the morning. We will see if my theory will be proven or not.
Thanks a million,

Gyorgy,

Here is the copy of this 24LC256 EEPROM.

We see in the contents of the file that my model is a Weinschel 8310-136-F and the firmware is V 2.70.

The EEPROM is almost empty. There is the identification and probably the config after powering up

?

Hope this solves your problem.

Hi Gyorgy,

?

I have a Weinschel 8310-136-F firmware V 2.70. What is your exact model from the list...the contents of the 24LC256 could be different from mine.

?

There is an internal dip switch, and possibly a link for internal rs-232 communication of the device.

?

But what command did you use to erase your EEPROM, I can't find anything in the operation and service manual.

Hi All,
I apologize for the off topic, but I am in trouble, and I don't find any sources of information. Maybe one of you will be able to help.

By a stupid mistake I erased the EEPROM of my 8310 programmable attenuator (don't as how, because it is simple. There is a GPIB command ERASE EEPROM. And it worked :-( ).
I could restore all the attenuator configurations, and the control over GPIB is working fine. But my front panel keyboard and display remains disabled. And I don't find any information about how could I enable it (over GPIB). For sure there are some related GPIB commands, but in the manual of the 8210 (the smart step controller) these are not documented (normally the controller is delivered without a connected keyboard and display).

I wonder if someone is using these Smart Step attenuators, and could make a copy of the configuration EEPROM (or already has a copy). It is a 24LC256 (but is SMD, in SO8 package). So it would be a little hassle to extract it, and copy it. But maybe, once in my life I have a bit of luck.

Thanks for any help.

Gyorgy/George
