?Yes, let¡¯s dump the test equipment business, as it is becoming commoditized, and let¡¯t jump in the PC and printer business, as it is already commoditized! ?We should also buy Compaq! Yes, they can help us lower our margins, but will save on R&D!?
?
Yes, let¡¯s fire those engineers; they cost ?much and are a pain in the ass!
?
Since we are selling the high margin test equipment business, let¡¯s dump the semiconductor business as well! It will be a great business to be owned by a foreign entity! No worries, we got Congress in our pocket, they will go along as we paid to get them elected!
?
Are you sure that this is a good strategy? Yes, the spreadsheet says so, and I have an MBA!
?
As seen by a retired engineer and executive! ?Best, Francesco K5URG

I don¡¯t understand why people seem to think Carly ran Agilent; she never did. She did not join HP until after the Agilent spinoff.

Ned Barnholt, and then Bill Sullivan ran Agilent after the spinoff. Both were good managers, but Sullivan felt that the money was to be made in the Life Sciences/Chemical analysis sector, and that test equipment was becoming a commodity that could be found on any streetcorner. And from what we have all seen, he was right when he spun off Keysight. So, if you look at what Keysight sells now, it is mainly really high-performance hardware, and a lot of software to support it. Of course, not many users need that level of performance except folks with really deep pockets doing rely cutting edge work, like the military, high-speed internet providers, and the 5G/6G crowd.

Yep, Keysite costs ran away... I uess thats what happens due to Ol' Carly waaay back when. R&S makes some great stuff but $$.
With the human product of our universities barely able to read, times ahead look grim.
If your are going with Chinesium products, dont delay! Their economy/political system/demographics virtually insure their demise (as a major player) in the next few years....
Oh well, glad I'm old. I can say I was the party when the booze ran out....

And it is NOT some pirated clone of some instrument from a major player. It is 100% Chinese designed and manufactured device with their own ACQ ASICs.
We are doomed here, there is no way we can compete with them. Those old times where we had all the brains and they were only doing a dumb work for a bowl of rice are long gone. All brains are already there and we don't have any left here. We only have pompous sales office inhabited by brainless suits and sales droids promoting those tiny boxes hardly worth $1K at insane asking prices. You ask a techical question and you'll get a reply from some engineer with a Chinese name with characteristic time shift.
