I'll double check the regulator to see if it will be ok. I have a big ground plane which should help, but I'll run more calculations to make sure it won't burn itself up.
It would have been nice if HP would have put that resistor in for the 5V by default for all instruments....

I wonder if a couple meg or tens of meg resistor or so at the input down to ground would help prevent spurious counts without affecting the actual operation too much?
