Right. The problem is that there are no photocells in today¡¯s equipment, so even googling for ¡°photocell¡± gives you results for ¡°photoresistor¡± (= LDR, Light-dependent resistor) [1].
Common LDRs use CdS (Cadmium Sulfide) as a material, so when you read ¡°CDS photocell¡±, what is meant is a CdS LDR.
Wikipedia completely avoids the term ¡°Photocell¡± in its articles about photodetectors [2], but redirects from ¡°Photocell¡± to that. As a more precise term, they use ¡°Phototube¡± [3].
