Re: HP transistor equivalent for 1854-0247?

It's a 2N3866, not a 2N3566, from what I could see. The 3866 a 1W 800MHz ft device, which makes much more sense for a 50MHz sig gen. It's also used as the vertical deflection drivers in the 100MHz Tek 465/465B, among other models.

If what I could see of Rico¡¯s reply, 2N3566 transistor, is correct then here is the info for that transistor. The comment also indicated that it was a selected transistor. My best guess since you indicated it was a 50MHz generator is that it was selected for 50 MHz operation vs. the 40MHz spec. on the 2N3566.

FAIRCHILD - 2N3566 - Transistor, NPN. P/N: 2N3566

$3.00

Transistor, NPN. Voltage: 30V. Current: 0.1Amp. Dissipation: 625 mW. Package: TO-105 epoxy (TO-39 antique) black molded body, 3 gold leads. GBWP: 40MHz. Weight: 1 oz.
A data sheet for the family is available here: ?datasheetq.com

To get around the selected part, match all of the data supplied and get a transistor with a slightly higher Hfe ie. 50-60MHz.

Also all ?1853- prefixes are PNP silicon type, all 1854- are NPN silicon type, all 1850-, 1851-, 1852- prefixes are germanium type transistors.
