It would b useful to know the make and model of the subject signal generator. The list of required test equipment should reveal all.
From the picture it clearly is a "proper" test point with a pair of female contacts. I'd guess that it is feeding a PIN switch and the test requires a 50R terminated measurement with the switch off. That is a guess, RTFM.
